I enjoy a few different types of music including Jazz music. I have grown a certain respect for different artists and musicians that perform jazz. Older jazz music is considered classic in today's time such as Billie Holiday. Most people who like that type of jazz don't like today's jazz such as Jill Scott...Angie Stone. Do you consider the jazz singers of today to have anything on the jazz singers of the past?? What are your views on jazz music??

I'm not a big fan of jazz and I've honestly never really been a fan of jazz. However, what I do remember is that when I was in college and taking my course in American history, we had to listen to all kinds of different music from the past in this country. Dr. Roorda played several genres of music for us and would compare it to what is popular today and I really think from that experience that the original jazz was better than more modern jazz.

Music is a big part of my history.. my family.. and even my husband has a strong interest in music. Heck, even my barely 2 year old daughter loves to sing, dance and harmonize. I have explored all different genres of music and grown to respect them for what they are. As far as my favorites... I like rap, r&b, gospel, jazz, classical and a little bluegrass lol which would be weird coming from me, right?? Music is merely an expression of feelings just as anything else... art, dance, writing... I just feel that it is one of the harder ways to express oneself.. Thanks for sharing your views!!

I like jazz music very much. The older jazz music, as you say , the classics. Louis Armstrong jazz is one of my favorites. I have a collection of CD's of jazz music, including Louis Armstrong's, and I enjoy listening to them often, bringing back the memories of those times too.

Hello Mrscallands! Jazz music is not my kind of music, and i'm sorry to say that i do not know any jazz players. I hear sometimes in the movies a jazz song, and it makes the atmosphere, creates the ambiance, but i'm not that attracted to it. Once, at a wedding, when i was litle, one of the singers played a jazz song, and i know i waz facsinated by the shinny instrument :)

Lol!! That shiny instrument may have been a saxophone. My sister and I have always really been into music. We were into it so much as children that we learned to play instruments and joined symphonic bands and... symphony orchestras... and chambers.. it was ongoing and nonstop. Today, I play the piano, violin and flute. My sister plays the alto sax, french horn and trumpet. We are music animals!! Thanks for commenting!!
