I'm trying to learn to play the violin. Yep, it might seem a bit too late (I'm 31), but I'm sure that it's really not that late. Would you agree that music can be learned even at an advanced age? Because I am believer that kids should be taught music at a young age becuase it would be easier for them to learn. Oh, but I've studied the piano in grade school, and could strum a good strum on my guitar. So, I guess there would be no problem right? Do you know of anyone who learned to play any instrument at an advanced age?

I personally do not know anyone that started playing an instrument at a later age. By the way 31 is not advance.
However it is never to late to seek out a passion and sometimes people just do not have time when they are younger to begin a passion with life's responsibilities. So my suggestion enjoy yourself and have fun.

It feels like, to me!
Well, what I mean is that music is better taught to young people. The younger, the better. So, I think 31 would be advanced. But, all other matters, I'm still young.
I guess you're right. I better do it now (than in my 40's because that would really be....advanced

Someone below said people in their 70's still attempt to learn to play the violin. Now, that IS advance...

Although it is quite advanced in age to be picking up a learning experience, I do find it is never too late to learn and venture out into ones passion.
But for me I hope I am able to fulfill all my passions long before I am 70.

Well, yes. :) I've watched the Taiwanese, Japanese, Korean and a bit of the Anime version. Of them all, my favorite was the rendition of hyun joong. Yup, try to pick it up sometime. Playing the violin is fun even if it is just for your self. Thanks for the response!

I learned to play both the piano and the viola when I was a child. I've not made an attempt to learn a musical instrument at an older age, but I think that knowing that you've got a background in music, it shouldn't be all that difficult for you to learn to play the violin at your age. You can already read the notes which I think is the most difficult part of learning to play an instrument. It won't take you long at all to be able to make Jihoo hum.

I guess you're right. It's a lot easier for me because of my musical background. Well, he's certainly humming now, a bit squeaky, but nothing that practice won't cure.
Wow, viola! That's like an older sister to a violin. I just wish that people would notice that a viola is not a violin! I know this is a frustration of viola players.

My mother, in her 70's sometimes gets beginning violin students her age. Her only complaint is that they are more impatient for results. 31 isn't old at all!

Wow, really? Oh, thank you, now I'm really encouraged to go on! I guess for people their age, they have all the time in the world to do whatever they want. But, I'm not waiting that long.
