It is hard to give a 'Best Response' if the only response is negative!

I have never taken one but my husband has for potential jobs. He had to take one for this one company. But they had extensive testing and interviewing. My husband is very smart but for some reason, they didn't hire him. Oh well. Then for his current job, after his interview, they had him take an online test! Weird.

Online tests are used increasingly where one used to fill out several pages of apparently random questions which show things like what sort of personality you are - a leader, follower, thinker, action type and so on. Rather than send the paper test off to be scored, it can now all be done online with instant results. One place I worked sent us on a weekend team building course where they explained and demonstrated one of these tests (paper based). It showed how, if you were building a team, you needed a good spread of all the types (fortunately, our existing team was pretty good!). It may be that your husband wasn't hired because his profile didn't fit what they were looking for, not because he's not smart!
Tests like this are used by a lot of organisations and some HR departments rely on the results a little too much, in my opinion.
