Though I am not sure why we call lion-hearted instead of tiger-hearted but have a sense to mention. By the term lion-hearted we mention a man who is brave and determined. In colloquial we also mean a man who has pity for fellows. The characteristics of lion and tiger is different. Both of that are brave. But King of animal is lion. It is established by the experts that a lion normally could not kill anyone except to meet hungry where a tiger kill any one anytime. Tiger kills for its cruelty but lion do not do so. So the term lion-hearted has come in existence. As we use lion's share but never use tiger's share.
Thanks for starting this discussion. Hope some one highlight on the topics exactly.

why not as he was considered in fables as King of the Jungle. The tigers were not mentioned. these sayings are ancient and not to be t aken too literally either. To say that one means a person has a strong heart
and much courage, thats all it means to me anyway. There are many of these saying and most of us,me includer, do not even know where they actually came from.just like the term chicken hearted meaning a cowardly person. a chicken's heart is very small.

To be honest I never even heard of that saying.. Lion Hearted ? I heard of Cold Hearted and You have a Big Heart. But never Tiger or Lion. But Tiger are bigger then Lions so you will think a Tiger has a stronger bigger heart. but Im not sure I dont work at a Zoo haha
