Powder or granulated sugar for sugar cookie cut outs.....

Been a few years since I baked lots of christmas cookies, but this year I am going to do it. I want to bake sugar cookie cut outs. I have the Betty Crocker cookbook I got for my wedding 33 years ago and I know I used one of the recipes MANY MANY times...just can't remember which one! Can't believe I didn't mark it as often as I used it, but of course..the main one isn't marked while tons of other recipes are! So... Ethel's Sugar Cookies are made with granulated sugar Mary's Sugar Cookies are made with Powder Sugar. What's the difference between using granulated vs. powder? I want to make cookie cut outs and have them on a stick, but I also want them a little soft so they don't break and crumble when the kids eat them from the stick Anyone know which would be better and why?

I vote for granulated. Powdered sugar is lighter in weight . It is usually used as a topping , like for donuts. Granulated sugar should make a thicker cookie . The type that will be able to be put on a stick.

I know powder sugar is for icing...but why would it be in a cookie like that? and which makes the best tasting and workable cutout?

I think it is granulated sugar.Suggestion. If you are in a hurry or you are Still not sure , get Betty Crocker sugar Cookie mix. All you have to do is add butter abd water , at least I think that what it needs, and you have cookie mix.

I think it is just a matter of individual taste. But I do like the idea of rolling the cookie dough out in sugar instead of flour to give the cookies a better texture and taste.
