Ireland has been most impressive among the associate members of I.C.C. competed in this world cup. They signed off their world cup campaign in style by beating much improved Netherlands side who posted 300 plus score first time in the world cup. Earlier in the day Ireland after winning the toss put Netherlands in to bat opting themselves to chase the score. Netherlands batting first put up a good total on board 306 all out in 50 overs. Their ten Doeschate scoring a fluent century, his second in this world cup. He made 106 in just 108 balls. Netherlands could have added another ten runs to their kitty had it not been for 4 run outs in the last over. It was incredible to see batsmen getting run out one after another trying to force the pace. Netherlands started their campaign in style putting on 177 runs for the first wicket in just 27 overs. The opening batsman P.R.Stirling scoring fluent 101 of just 72 balls. They reached their target of 307 runs in just 47.4 overs loosing just four wickets.
