Here now days the public transportation is becoming much unsafe especially for the ladies and children. The rough driving of bus people, cunning autos drivers, robbing in taxies and so on goes the unsafe part of the transportation. In trains it is really risk and dangerous especially for ladies to travel that too when the compartments are lonely. Still in between there are also good and understanding people in those public transports. More accidents are happened during the rainy season, the roads too get harsh as there are lots of gutters. It is also known that lots of people have given complaints on these issues to those concerned, but there could be seen a bit of betterment when election time nears.

All are safe and none is safe -- depends on circumstances.
Local train is safe when there is a special bogey for ladies, but it is extremely dangerous when it is empty and I am the only passenger.
Similarly bus are also safer, but they are troublesome in both crowded and empty conditions.
Taxi and auto are quite safer but they also has great risk, especially at nighttime and when we want to reach some outskirts of our town.
Actually, conditions and circumstances makes one transport system good and another bad at a given time. I think, we cannot say for sure that this is the best and safest transportation system for all the time.

hello Sham,
Here in our country, everything is safe not unless you are too unfortunate.
Like,if you ride a taxi and being robbed halfway, this happens but very rare occasion, since taxi drivers mostly are the victims of robbery (hold-up).
If you ride with bus and jeeps...there is also a risk of snatchers and hold-ups.
With trains...the only danger is,when there is a bomb.
No,my country is not that dangerous when it comes to transportation.
I work at graveyard shift (night time) i usually rode on taxis when my son can not drive me to work.
I leave house by 11pm since workplace is just 15 mins drive from home and my work starts at 12 midnite.
My daughter usually takes train going to school and coming back home, and she comes home late sometimes,as late as 10pm.
Before i had my shift starts at 4am so i have to leave home by 3am riding taxi.
I can say that,it's safe to take any transportation here in my locality...even for girls.

yes, defense equipments like sprays can be useful in troublesome conditions. Learning some defense techniques is also helpful for self defense. There many institutes everywhere who teaches self defense techniques to everyone.

Public transport can be very dangerous in the bigger cities here, but there are only taxis in my area. As a matter if fact..there may only be a couple of them from one company here. The issue is more crime than dangerous conditions. As a matter of fact, the taxi drivers are often in dnager of crimes..expecially on larger cities.

Everywhere this problems and hazhards will be there. Especially, ladies should be cautious and alert while travelling alone in a secluded or isolated areas and in empty public transports.

There really is nothing safe if evil people lurks around.
You ride a train, and you happen to stand beside a pick-pocketer or worse your train gets bombed.
You ride a bus and somebody declares a hold-up, or worse your bus gets bombed.
You ride a taxi and the driver gets your money by taking the longest route to your destination. An office worker was really furious this morning because of this.
You ride your on car and a reckless driver smashed your car.
You really don't have any choice. These things happens when you least expect them.
But I still ride on a public transportation. I really don't have much choice since I don't have a car. What we can do is just pray that at the end of the day you still get to go home to your loved ones safely.

And to warn everyone in the PH that there's a modus in the taxis nowadays. The driver will pick you up and en route, about two other men will board the taxi and they will keep you for hours, looking for dimly lit atms and they will ask/drag you to withdraw all of your money.
I believe too that we really cant say that some public transportation are safe or not. It depends on the circumstance. We just need to be alert and we need to protect ourselves at all times.
If you'll ask me in terms of riding comfort, it would be the taxi since you have the whole car for yourself but it is quite costly.

There is a theory in management studies called 'Reinforcement Theory' it states that Whatever behavior is accepted is reinforced. like a person standing in the middle of the road raising his hand to stop the buss and the buss stops even if its not the buss stop which happens to be common scenario of todays daily life or be it the daily little ballet dance we do in the road to cross the street dribble along the moving traffic. We do know all those acts are not safe and could lead to an accident yet we seem to forget everything cause we all are in so damn hurry at times. so its actually us who makes the whole transportation thing dangerous. nothing can be done unless we all start taking this seriously which we normally dont.

Where I live usually taxis, buses and trains are safe. When taking a taxi the person should see if the cab is registered to a taxi firm. Some bus drivers in my local area drive quite dangerously so each passenger should hold on well, ring the bell and wait until the bus comes to a complete stop before getting up to go on the bus door. On the trains there are seats 2 by 2 and many for 2 facing or backing the engine. They all have an emergency button is case this needs to be used.

Although I could not say that there are no robbers in public tranportation, I can say that if you are careful to follow certain rules it is very safe in my country.
I don´t wear jewelry when I am using public transportation. I don´t do it in my country and I don´t do it abroad. I hold on tight to my purse and don´t carry too much money. That is easier now: you can make a special trip to places where you will spend a lot as in supermarkets or in buying big stuff. But foer everyday transportation you don´t have much problems here using common sense.

You are talking only about safe transporation. But I am saying here some one not safe at any place. with the advancement of technology we feel some comfort but don't forgot every thing have two aspect nagtive and postive. So if you want comfort than you should be pay for it. In the present we cannot depend on the govt for these problems.

There's a few problems here concerning safety, mainly because in the winter, the driving conditions can be quite awful. Yesterday, a bus with school children drove off the road somewhere up the valleys in the Mid Norway, and when they don't remove the snow properly, that happens a bit too often. There's been some episodes with taxi drivers raping/trying to rape women who travel alone, so I'd be careful with taking a taxi on my own late in the evening. Or be very aware, keep my phone ready and hit them hard with something (possibly the phone) if anything happens ...
Apart from that, the main problem with public transport is that the buses don't go often enough!

I think public transportation is always safe compared to private as there are other people with us who can help us in the need. There are some exceptions also but I think in general public transport are considered safe due to their mass transportation capability. When I am with other people there is no danger of being robbed or attacked as no one do that in a place full of crowd.

Depends where you live. I mean if it`s dark out of if you`re alone on public transperation, it goes without saying that you need to be alrt and cautious. But not all public transpertation is bad. It`s alot cheaper.
