In Body of Proof on Sunday Dana Delany's character, Megan, was trying to convince the detectives that it was two murders and not a murder and suicide. The detectives said the guy shot the girl and then shot himself in the right side of his head and the gun was in his right hand. Megan said that since the guy had bruises on his left hand that he was left handed and would not have used his right hand. The detectives didn't think that was enough to prove he was left handed. So then she said the guy was left handed because he had his wallet in his left hip pocket and the detectives seemed to think that was a little more convincing. Well that is just wrong and not logical. I am right handed and I carry my wallet in my left pocket so that when I take it out, I can use my dominate right hand to open it and take credit cards or money or whatever out with my more dexterous hand. This is also supported by the clothing industry since on a man's slacks(or suit pants) the left hip pocket has a button and the right one does not. This would be so the wallet could be more secure in that pocket and it is on the left side because the majority of men(and people) are right handed. A more correct writing for the show would have been if the guy had the wallet in his right pocket.

I am left handed and the only thing I do with my left hand is write. I can paint with both hands when standing on a ladder, use normal right handed scissors, I crochet right handed.
So, what is the norm for left handed people...or right handed people for that matter?
I may be left handed, but I am always right.

That's a nice catch. I have always despised leaps of faith in detective works, what I see as "Sherlock Holmes Syndrome" - instant jumps to conclusions based on probability instead of facts. Since CSI debuted, shows have been better at the science of criminology but leaps like this still slip through.
Keep 'em honest!

I write with both hands; however, most of the time with my right hand. My wallet is in my left pocket when I'm wearing pants with pockets. The writer could be like me. Yes, most people are right handed, but I'm meeting a lot more people like me the last few years. People are more willing to step forward and speak up stating there is nothing wrong with being able to write with both hands.
