Hello imgrandma. I don't know if I would offer a homeless person with a sign asking for a job. After watching a documentary by John Strossel a few weeks ago I am skeptical about them really wanting to work. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4teq7aKTNJ4. It appears to me that these people really don;t want to work. If I couldn't find any thing else Yes I would even clean toilets. Some time ago I read an article about a man that got a business cleaning toilets.

perhaps i will... i mean, why not give these homeless people a chance? at least they want to work for their food, unlike other beggars who just sit all day and wait for pennies to fall in front of them, they're not even exerting efforts aside from trying to earn pity from passersby.

i agree with you i think its better that they work for the money instead of sit there asking for it

Not just a stranger, but if I new them, maybe. There is a Vietnam veteran who is down on his luck, and hangs around here. He's a nice guy, and did the sane thing my hubby did in the war. If we had the money we'd help him.

It depends on the homeless person and it depends on the job quite frankly. Obviously if the homeless person was just someone who had been dealt a very bad set of cards, and needs a fresh start and proves themselves to be qualified for the job at hand, then obviously, they would be worth of some consideration. After all, if they can prove themselves to be worth, they do deserve a chance to make the best out of a not so good situation.
However, just handing people just because they would take a lower salary out of desperation potentially, that's not really great. Well actually its technically good business sense and does happen all of the time in the real world, but still its not very ethical to say the very least. Still its all about qualifications. I would not give a job to the richest person in the world, if he's really not skilled. The same with the other end of the spectrum.

I would prefer to give a homeless person a job so that he can work to earn a living. I do not think it is good to give someone just money rather let him or her work for the money.

I don't like seeing homeless people for the simple reason that I don't think anyone should be left without a home. It breaks my heart and I usually give anything I could spare to street children and homeless people. I dream of a day when I can help all those people get homes and jobs so that they can support themselves.

Personally it would really depend on the situation, and such. A lot of times there are a lot of people out there that are holding signs that live in nice homes, and drive nice cars, etc. They have learned that this is easier than working for someone and even better as No taxes ever have to be paid, so why work? But then there could be some genuine people really looking for work, etc. just down on their Luck.
I guess if I really had something I needed someone to do and felt I could Trust them I would hire them. If I was the Boss somewhere I might try and persuade them if we were needing help to come fill out a job application as well. But unless it was someone I really knew I could Trust I would be leary of letting them in my home.

Hi grand
You know if you ask me this 10 years ago I probably would have said that they could do yard work for some food. With the way people are now days I can not let someone know where I live at for the fear they would come back and rob me. I have stopped and handed out food to these people.
