First Saturday in May is coming.... The Kentucky Derby.

It's that time of the year again... The season of the Triple Crown... starts this saturday with The Kentucky Derby followed by The Preakness and then The Belmont. Do you have plans to watch it on tv...or will you attend an event to watch it elsewhere, or even better will you be going to The Kentucky Derby?? I don't follow it every year, but when it approaches I get just a little excitement and try to watch it on tv.

No, we are not into horse racing at all. Although, my family did go and watch Secretariat the movie, because the jockey Ron Turcotte lives in our home town and I wanted the kids to know what the man was all about.

I live in Kentucky. I always make it a point to watch the Derby every year. I don't bet and watch it just for the fun of it. I went to Churchill Downs one time (not during racing season). It is a fantastic place. That entire area of Kentucky is beautiful in the spring and summer. The horse farms extend for miles with the white fences around the perimeter of each ranch. You can watch the horses in the fields running and playing. The bluegrass is striking. Did you know that bluegrass isn't blue?

Oh living near there has to be exciting, this would be a favorite time of year then!! I bet it is beautiful to see, I would love to take a weekend and just drive around there. thanks for the response and have a great day!!

I would love to go to the Kentucky Derby. I think that it is a great equine event and considering my love for horses, it would be a great place for me to be. I think of it each year, but I never have the money to go to see it.

I don't usually get a chance to watch it while it's happening but do watch the reruns...love seeing the hats that the gals wear....it's a classy event.
