Friends, the ‘Guru Purnima’ is celebrated in the Hindu month of Ashadha (July-August). This year it falls on July 15th 2011, I will meet my Guru on this day, he lives in deep forest.
It is kind of ‘Teacher’s Day’, this day is significant for disciples who seek to get initiated by their Guru. Guru Purnima is the day of eradicating ignorance and illuminating our lives with knowledge. Students who desire to get the blessings of their teachers, and for everyone who wants to honor persons of great wisdom and learning.
Traditionally the Guru is considered an embodiment of the Hindu Trinity Gods namely Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva. The word 'Guru' means remover of darkness (In Sanskrit, "Gu" means darkness, "Ru" means remover).
A real Guru can inspire us to overcome our limitations, even lethargy and conjure a life of wonderful possibilities. This 15th July 2011, the planets are uniquely positioned to give a fresh perspective and new hope for the spiritually inclined.
Because my Guru lives in deep forest, where only a bike can go, last 5 miles is rough, jungle road, I have hired a Sumo Van, it is air-conditioned, for the 50 kilometers journey; I will lie comfortably on the rear seat; one of my students will carry me in his bike to Guruji’s hut, I will stay with him for 2 hours, get his blessings, seek his help for some matters and then come back, the night I will stay in my student’s home and comeback home in the morning in the hired vehicle.
I know, I will get tired, but not much as I did last time.
I have promised some body of help, through Guruji. This day comes once in a year, I don’t want to miss it.
Do you have a Guru; do you meet him or meet your teachers on ‘Teacher’s Day’?
Please respond and share your opinion.
Thanks in advance.
Professor ‘Bhuwan’. .
Cheers have a lucky day ahead.

Hi Papa
How exciting of a day this sounds. Firstly, do not over-exert like the last time as a second time of falling ill will not be good for you. As much as you would like to be eventful with all friends and friends, you must take care of you first.
As for Guru, I have not heard of such event here and yes we do have a Teachers Day but mostly celebrated amongst the school children and teachers on the given day. It must be exciting to see past teachers but sadly once we leave schools and universities we do not have much contact, if any at all. It must be nice to show the teachers our accomplishments due to their efforts.
Have a wonderful day and make sure not to over do it.

hi professor,
i could remember some teachers that i had in school and i look up to them because they have given me the knowledge that helped me to be who i am now. and i appreciate them a lot.
guess i will not see them anymore because some have passed away and the others are too old to go out and/or remember me.
i wish there is a kind of day too here like yours, to remember our gurus and inform them how they are very much appreciated.

I have taken Shirdi Sai Baba as my Guru. It was my long desire to visit Shirdi at least once in my life time and I had that opportunity some time back. I had good darshan of Baba's samadhi and his living place dwarakamayee. You are so much helping natured and naturally your Guru's blessings will be on your family.

Dear Professor. I felt very happy to read your message. I have been practising "Yoga Meditation" for over twenty years now, and have found it excellent for mental and physical calmness. I have been practising meditation every evening after I get back home from my work. I have taken the guidance of meditation Gurus.

Remember that as once we needed our Gurus more than breath, now our students need us. I will spend the day "meditating" and helping those who seek me out, as my Guru is no longer physically available.
Cheers, Professor.
