Brushing teeth can affect our sense of taste.

If orange juice appears to be sour or bitter in the morning, it may be because you brushed your teeth before taking your breakfast. This effect is due to a detergent called sodium lauryl sulfate or SLS that is a toothpaste ingredient. Residues of SLS in the mouth caused the acid in the orange juice to taste sour and bitter, and make the sugar less sweeter.

That's why I don't taste good after toothbrush. But it feels refreshing to brush our teeth. Maybe we should not eat or drink something after we toothbrush. Maybe we should wait 15 mins to decrease the SLS residue in our mouth.

I also noticed it a long time ago. And I only knew what the reason was after reading my book this morning. Sometimes it gets really bitter like you are losing the appetite.

in fact, you should wait an hour after eating to brush your teeth. eating raises the level of acidity in the mouth, and brushing before the acid level returns to normal can damage the tooth enamel, as you're basically scrubbing your teeth with acid.

Oh I see. That is so good an advise. I will remember that.

I'd expect it's more down to the strong minty flavour. after all, if you eat after chewing gum or eating mints, the effect is much the same.
