3-D movies are really 4-D

There is all this current interest in what they are calling 3-D movies. But movies have been in 3-D just about from the start; they had x and y coordinates and moved with time, thus 3-D with x-y-t coordinates. So what they are hyping as 3-D are really close to 4-D; that is x-y-z-t with the z coming out of the screen. Now one might argue that that is not true 4-D but I don't see how anyone can argue that the other which has been around so long isn't 3-D. Now Spy Kids ... is claiming 4-D with smell but smell is not a dimension, it is a sense.

That is true. I actually saw a movie where they pumped in smells at different times. I can't remember where I was someplace in Disney World I think, but I can't say for sure. Personally I am tired of all this 3D and 4D stuff, I think it is just an excuse to charge us $3.00 each for a pair of .10 glasses. The special affects are never as good as hope they will be. Except when I saw Avatar I saw it in an Imax theater which cost a lot extra, but the special affects were actually cool.
