Since last night I knew that only Cholesterol was responsible for a Heart Attack. High blood pressure is responsible for Heart Attack and Cerebral Attack. Last night I came to know that there is another silent killer, which is known as HOMOCYSTEINE. Men with normal pressure and Cholesterol have died owing to a heart attack and the cause of the attack was that Homocysteine. It is established that approximately 15 percent of all the heart attacks and strokes are the result of elevated homocysteine levels. The important thing to note that the level can be corrected simply by taking B vitamin supplements. TO check the homocysteine level we have to do CRP test. I am seriously considering to check my homocysteine level and to take B vitamin supplements.

I read somewhere that homocysteine is an indicator rather than a cause of heart problems. In other words, it shows that you may have heart problems, but is not the direct reason for it. Nevertheless, taking B Vitamins is good for most of us.

It is more dangerous than Cholesterol. I heard that it will not give any time. Higher level does not indicates heart problems, it indicates your heart is in danger.

Thank you very much for sharing the information. I am sure this will be of interest to many of myLotters. I have high blood pressure and have to take medcines for that daily, and also avoid foods which aggravates blood pressure, such as salty foods. Any particular foods we should avoid eating not to aggravate homocysteine level ?

greenline, thanks for the reply. My husband's has high blood pressure. Like you he is taking medicine to control pressure. Besides he is taking Garlic product and Omega 3 fatty acid. For Homocysteine we have nothing to avoid. Homocysteine increases from our normal diet. I think I shall be able to furnish more on Homocysteine as one of my upline will supply a book on this on tomorrow.
