Have you ever made silly mistake that ruin your vacation?

I can't remember I ever did, to be honest I don't know what I should do if I read the ticket wrong. I have seldom enough money with me to buy a new ticket :-( Also I don't know if it would spoil or ruin my vacation, it might go different as aspected but it's still vacation and kind of adventure.

I made a silly mistake on one of our vacation trips but didn't really ruin it. I failed to check the weather when we went to Macau, China. Since it is hot in my country and the place we are about to visit is also in Asia I thought the weather will be similar. We only brought one jacket each and even have some swimsuits ready. When we get there, we learned that is winter in that place. We end up looking for jackets, mittens and neckwarmers.

I got sickness and a fever for one week. I had come from Sumatra to Malaysia. I kept vomiting and felt very ill indeed. I got better and then a week or so later fell down an open drain and severely injured my leg. I tore the ligament in my leg and it was slow to heal. I came home on crutches because I could hardly walk due to the pain. On a different trip I was walking along a lonely beach pushing along my bike that I had hired. A man came up and attacked me. I was so lucky to get away from him. I spent the rest of my trip in the Maldives feeling shaky.

I missed a flight with a non refundable ticket to ride a bus with my wife and daughter which was eventually gets stranded for more than 6 hours. I lost money and time. Poor decision on my part.
