Have you found money by searching Unclaimed Property in your state?

I learned that we can search for unclaimed property in each state. For example, google: unclaimed property California - then it will show the site where you can search your name. I searched me, some friends, family, etc. I found a possible $112.30 for me. I also found about $2,600 for my landlord - he's gonna like it when he hears it. Have you ever done the search and found money?

I did a search at the state fair this year. I found $131 for my daughter that is in Minnesota now. Nothing for me at all under my name, or my previously married name or my maiden name. I was glad to find that for my daughter though.

I just found out about it about ten days ago. I am visiting her now and I have the forms she needs to fill out.

I hope she can get it quickly. My friend found about $60 here in California and she said it took about four months.

That's great! Have you gotten her to collect it? I understand that it takes a while as the states always take a long time to release the money.

This past week that subject came up a lot because our state fair had a booth where they would search the data bases for money owed to people. You go up to the booth, they do the research, and they tell you if money or land is waiting for you. At the time I saw that particular evening's news broadcast, more than $112,000 of money and land had been claimed because of that booth. That is amazing to me.

I can't imagine how much is sitting with the state controllers. I was just browsing a few people and even saw one that had over $11,000,000 sitting there. I can't imagine not knowing that I had that money coming to me.

Yes it is. Now I'm thinking of how I'm going to tell my 90 year old landlord about the money I found of his - that $2,600 plus. It's up for the claiming, it's just printing the forms and completing the information. I know he's going to need a lot of my help in getting it done (as usual), and I feel I should be compensated for it. His attorney would want like $300 an hour, what should I do?

I have looked there before but did not find anything that belonged to me or my family members.

I found $75.00 for my nephew, but that's all that I found for my family, except the $100 and change that I mentioned earlier. I did find lots of money though for many of my acquaintances.

A few years ago, I tried to see if I had anything to find like that, but when I would get so far on the site, they would ask for money to search, that I would just give it up. They had thousands of people with my same name, saying 'chrystaltears has $4,132' or chrystaltears had $8,000, and on and on but to go any further to see if you were one of these 'chrystaltears', for example, they would ask for you to become a member and make your payment with the credit card. I decided it wouldn't be worth my while just in case there wasn't anything out there for me.
Tell me about it, since it has been years since I tried, I might be willing to look at it again.

Now that's a new subject - the Antique Roadshow! I didn't know that it was still going on - do they still put it on television?
