At times I do feel so, those trees are gone, the time is moving so fast and at times a year is soon over. Space stations, satellites, rockets so on are made from the earth. The big ices on the earth are melting. Lots of forests are gone, less wild animals, the changes in earth. I feel it would have reduced the weight of our earth. Many things from earth have been placed in other plants, galaxies and orbits. Who knows whether the speed of rotating the sun would have been increased…

Hello, your topic is interesting one. Change is an universal truth.Earth took million trillion years to born. So earth is dying very slowly. I don't know too much about it but all things, melting of glaciers, lessen forest and wild animal are all part of this process.

Hi shamrack!
I think it's the other way around. The earth is getting heavier as days pass by. I think I've read somewhere that our planet is even moving away from it's orbit. The earth is getting heavier because of the trash and everything that is being produced by man. Things may disappear like trees but they are replaced with even heavier things like metals, plastics, etcetera.

Hi, Secretbear, Yes, that could also happen. But those big ices are melting, those heavy big rocks had been cut into pieces and powders and there came big buildings. As the theory earth may get cooler and cooler. Thanks, what you raised is really useful....

Time is constant however your perception of the passage of time has possibly altered over your life.Out of your examples of the earth getting lighter the only ones that are true are the ones involving objects being put into space as there mass is being sent off the planet. The ice forests and wild animals the mass is just in a different form. For example the melted ice will flow into the oceans and the wood from the forests will have been made into things or burnt and the gasses will be in the atmosphere with the rest of the mass in the form of ash.

To answer your question, a researcher is the one who could answer your quiz with certainty. But, perhaps, your analysis is quite true. As you say, chunk of ice on the poles, mostly melted, offshore oil drilling, cutting forest and many other thing that have not been up to in our minds. As an example, shuttle carrying parts of particles or parts of the earth. I would argue with you that the earth dwindling weight because particles or parts of the earth that have been taken out of the earth will not be back to earth. Each space station that is outdated will fall back to earth and burning when passing through the atmosphere. So, I think we came out space activity can reduce the weight of the earth, resulting in acceleration of time due to rotation which is faster since the earth more lightly.

I doubt whether the weight of Earth has been reduced. But you are right in that there has been a huge reduction of trees, and native animals, in addition to reduced sand dunes and shorelines.
I do wonder when, not if, we will suffer the consequences of our degradation of Earth.

I think we all think like this at times, but I think when we are small children it is happening like that and we don't notice it as much as we do when we are grown. It has always been that way. Comes with age. LOL
