Cloud computing is being advertised and promoted for computer users..programs can be accessed from the cloud through a wifi or internet connection so you don't have to buy or download the programs,or the storage space to store your files..You'd just have to rent them offsite...good if you're on the move and want access..How do You feel about the Cloud and paying for access services? good thing, bad idea,or something you might consider?

I'd have that concern too...You've handed over your data for somebody else to look after..what could possibly go wrong with THAT scenario?!

Well, cloud would be very good if you always need to be online. Cloud is basically your offsite storage device. If you like syncing your files, i.e. music, videos, then cloud would be of good use, especially if you have an unlimited postpaid data plan. But since I am on prepaid, I don't really use the cloud since I disabled the 3G capability of my phone, I use my load on sms and calls and not on internet. If I need to be online, I'll have to look for a public or free WiFi.

I was reading an article on data storage that showed an old type of computer, those 1950's or '60's machines that filled a floor or more of an office building with spinning tape reels..the equivalent of 4Gb of RAM filled several of those type of cabinets they used, whereas nowadays 4Gb and more is contained on a micro SD card that will slot into Your phone..the computer terminals used for those machines were dumb terminals, they had no processors or storage of their own, they just called up the mainframe and it did all the work...that's how "the cloud" is being seen by some..a mainframe that you'll need to pay remote access fees online to use...

So You'd only be considering the Cloud as a user of a Mobile device, not a Home computer? Some are looking at the situation as going "retro",as in harking back to the building sized computers of the '50's and '60's ,where the keyboard terminals were just remote, dumb access units connected to the Mainframe somewhere else..stepping away from powerful standalone home computers..(Slightly OT!)I saw photos online of memory units that would have belonged to such computers..a 2Gb unit was the size of a Wardrobe back in the day,and here I am with a phone today that has a 2Gb Micro SD card the size of my little fingernail!
