I just heard from my colleague that one of the cost cutting measures that will be implemented will be a compressed working hours, meaning we have to report to work 5 days a week only, we will be able to have a 2 days vacation weekly. I'm ok with it. It doesn't change a thing when it comes to our salary since we will still be reporting 48 hours a week only that instead of reporting from 9am to 6pm I think we will be reporting earlier than 9 am.
I'm just so excited to be able to take a 2 days off from work weekly. Finally hubby and I will be able to take a weekend out of town trip.
How about you guys? if you were to choose would like to work 9 hours a day just to give way to a 2 days off from work weekly? what do you prefer?

Thats is great for you. But All the years that I worked I only worked 5 days a week, 40 hours a week. I never worked 6 days a week. So, this sounds strange to me. I have always gotten weekends off, and for those people that had to work on a Saturday, always got a day off during the week in addition to Sunday. I have always worked 8 to 4:30 and always had weekends off. Then I always have gotten vacation time in addition, also sick time. Working 48 hours a week to me is criminal. Here, anything over 40 is considered overtime. Meaning, more money.

Yes, lucky me, finally I was able to experience 2 days vacation in a week. Though I still have to go to work 48 hours a week. I think in your country you are being paid in an hourly basis right? unfortunately here in my country usual standard is per day.

Well here in the U.S. there are really two types of pay, hourly and salary. Salary means that you get a certain amount per year, lets say 50,000 dollars a year. Then you will work like either 40 hours a week or more depending on what you need to finish. Hourly workers get paid a set amount like lets say 20 dollars an hour for 40 hours a week. Mostly every job here gets 2 days a week off, whether it is Saturday and Sunday or Sunday and one day during the week.

That's the best cost cutting measure that the company will have to adapt, Auds. I have been longing for a two day rest day a week. At least now, i can do a lot on Saturdays and have Sunday as a really relaxing day.
Will that be applicable to all our affiliates?

I think eventually it'll be applicable to all affiliates. Ours was implemented this week, though I was the one on duty today, it's alright at least I was able to go home at 12 noon. I missed it! after almost a year.

Hi, this is not a new thing here in India. We work for even 10 hrs daily with no weekend offs. hahahha
It happens only in India!
But of course we can avail 7 to 10 days leave for vacations. this is very routine and all have got used to this way of lifestyle.
