Carachters in Lotr you wish to have seen in the movies?

I hate what PJ did with Arwen.
She should be in the movies as much she was in the books, we almost don't see her and she's amazing nonetheless.
I wish to see Glorfindel coming to help them, and ride the white horse in the river, Elrond calling for the powers of Imladris and helping Frodo, and specially if there wasn't Arwen doing Frodo's job at the river it would have changed his weak image on the movie wich he is not on the books. He put that sword up and told them to come and get him. He's brave. I like book Frodo.
And I soooo wish to see the twins Elladan and Elrohir, but that because they are hot.
What carachters you wish there were in the movies that PJ just killed?
And to put Haldir in such a important place to later kill him? wth?

I wanted to see the fox! The fox is a very, very important character :-)
And Tom Bombadil. I suppose he was cut because adapting him to film would have meant changing him too much, but I still missed him and old man willow.
BTW, how do you know Elledan and Elrohir are hot? :-)

The fox is in the first book, when the hobbits leave the Shire. He wonders why they are out wandering around so late at night. It's the only animal in Lord of the Rings that actually "talk" (or think so we understand it), in the hobbits the animals are more sentient somehow.
I agree that Arwen character wasn't very consistent. Most of my male LOTR fan friends have a crush on Eowyn though, I think it is something with the sword. Arwen should have kept hers :-)

Lol, not exactly by the book, I read many fanfiction and wow, do fans have creativity?
Just in a fun way, I think the movie tried to capture the essence, just can't forgive what they did to Glorfindel, not only they pretend he didn't exist but they gave his part to Arwen, it became forceful and unreal.
In the first movie she even put a blade on her Ranger boyfriend's throat, seems a very strong girl and it's kind of okay if they keep that way.
In the ROTK she can't even hold a book, it's like two Arwens, so different. Many fans don't liked her or the Liv Tyler choice.
I didn't get to the Fox yet but I can see how Tom Bombadil didn't fit Lotr in the big screen, although that carachter made me sooo happy. I'd love to stop and rest on their house, eat nice food in a journey that I'm weary and stressed. I think we all want comfort.
I was watching a show about Tolkien, indeed there are many parts where (in the book of course) Frodo wanted to prolong his staying where he was being comforted, I think we all do that in life and Tolkien is a genious. I think his story is very real, even though there are magic. I can relate to all that happens to the carachters in one point of my life.
Even Bilbo could be Tolkien, in how he loved to write and that he always needed to be writing. Frodo could be Tolkien in war times, Tolkien had seen the worst and never recovered.

I didn't understand his change of the Haldir character--I guess he was trying to mix in Glorfindel, Haldir, and other elves and make one character out of them. But I totally agree with you--Glorfindel should have been left in the movie as a character, and we come have done with a lot less Arwen. . .He should have had more of the dukes and other lords of Gondor make the processions into the city, too, like Prince Imrahil.
Two other changes that I thought were mistakes: killing off Saruman (!) and having Aragorn kill the Mouth of Sauron. A real king would never have done such a thing, especially under a flag of truce or parley. Just my 2 cents!

OMG! Wait, wait wai you are going to fast. I'm kidding, you really know Lotr!!!
I'm sad to see then that the more I read the more I'll find out, I didn't read the whole triology throughly but I am.
Do you like everything? I'm reading The Silmarillion and Children of Húrin, if you did,did you like it?
I think Tolkien is a genious, no other author is like him and JKRowling ripped him off in any way possible, you just have to read 50 pages of The Fellowship of the Ring to see Harry Potter there, she really did, I'm convinced after reading and I'm her ex-fan.
Now it's intersting what you said they tried to mix elves on Haldir, I never thought of that.
I think it's a shame to change such a genious as Tolkien, like his version wasn't good enough.

I have read the books many times; you surely need to read them more than once to even hope to catch a lot of things, so no worries! I have read the Silmarillion and Children of Hurin, but not for many years, so I no longer feel like I remember everything in those books. Another good one is "Unfinished Tales"--they help plug a lot if holes or questions, so I suggest reading them too.
I wouldn't be too hard on JK Rowling; her books are written on a different level, for kids. JRR Tolkien's books are more for adults. And a lot of these types of books draw on the same myths and legends, so they are all bound to have some similarities, don't you think?
