Marriage dates in UK and marriage certificate for marriage in the year 2007.

I would like to know the marriage date of one person who lives in London -UK. I have heard that in UK, the data of marriages and birth, death are public data and it is easily available on internet and the certificates are also issued on payment of some fees.
However, the marriage date and certificate which I am looking for is of the year 2007 and so the data is not available on internet as the same is updated upto 2005 only.
Can someone here help me in this matter? It is very urget for me as the person whose marriage date and certificate I am looking for is India right now.

First of all I wonder if it is allowed for everyone to get information about this kind of private things even if you have to pay for it.
Secondly I assume that if you know where the marriage took place you can ask this at the city hall. They probably have an internet site as well and will tell you how you can ask for the info you like to have and how to pay for it as well.
That is how it works over here in the Netherlands.

Well, yes. They do have a web site and I had visited the same but the data is updated upto only 2005.
This data is publically available without any restriction. But the only thing is that the data after 2005 is not available on net on the sites which I have visited. Thanks for the response.
