It's been a rough few days.

So much has happened lately and I haven't been able to get much done around here.
The lack of work has been placing a huge damper on my mood and things are really stressing me out.
I had to help my boss move yesterday and it was extremely tough on me. I was trying to find information while out as my boss didn't have internet access since they disconnected her early.
I got a new cell phone on the weekend, I really needed it as mine was almost dead. The good thing about the new phone was that it was on sale and came with free data for 6 months. I liked that and need it too.
Yesterday I almost regretted buying the phone as I really needed the money at the end of the day. Things got so bad.
After worrying about not working because of that stupid idiot, he finally left and I could get back to work with my boss. After yesterday though, I guess I'm glad I wasn't working as things would have gone wrong sooner.
So my day started yesterday morning very early when my boss told me that it was safe to come down to her place to help her move.
We finished packing her place, but I had to run around a few times to get some things that she needed.
It started to rain as we drove down to the new place, and we had to unload the truck in the rain, and it was pouring by then. Everything got really wet and so did we.
At one point before we headed down to the new place, my van started to make some odd noises. I worried about that, but didn't think much of it. I had checked in the engine, but didn't see anything that seemed out of place.
The van was buzzing, but I couldn't figure out where the noise was coming from. I heard it underneath the van, sounded like it was coming from the back, but I couldn't find it.
I kept working and driving, still not thinking much about it. It was as I was having more trouble getting the engine to turn over, I realized that something was wrong. I still didn't know what was going on, and thought I would make it home ok though.
So we finally wrapped up at 10:30pm last night and I headed home. I was timing the drive, I wanted to figure out how long it would take and what kind of mileage it was from her place to mine.
Our roommate had called me to make sure I was fine since I hadn't gotten home yet. When he called I was just leaving to go home.
I passed by a gas station and was continuing to drive up the street when suddenly the van started to lose power. I'd press on the gas, but got nothing, no response from the engine.
I pulled over, thankfully being so late at night, there was no traffic, so I didn't have to worry about being in the way.
When I had pulled over, I realized that the engine had stopped running. I hadn't heard it shut down because I had the radio, heat and my power adapter running. I was just lucky that I could pull over.
I decided to call my other roommate and ask him to come down to help me. It was cold out and I had nothing with me but my wet sweatshirt that I was wearing and I was freezing.
I kept trying to turn the engine over, but nothing worked. Even when my roommate got to me, he hooked up his battery charger. It didn't help. He even put his booster cables on at the same time, but still nothing.
I started to make some calls, trying to get some help. No one could help me, and I felt that I was completely stuck.
We kept trying to get the engine started, but still nothing. I was frustrated, cold and tired.
So, I decided that I needed to get towed home as I couldn't just leave the van on the side of the road. I called home, needing to borrow money and my roommate went home to get my mother in law and take her to the bank to get money.
I called a towing company and found that it was cheap, $85 to haul the van home. Thankfully everyone got back before the tow truck got there, the driver got there a few minutes later.
The tow truck driver had me try to start the van, and told me that it sounded like the fuel pump was gone. I was not amused at all.
I decided to call my boss even though she didn't have her phone hooked up yet. I'm glad I did because she called me today. She's looking into getting the van fixed, as she usually does.
So anyways, that's what's happened, yesterday was the worst of what I've been through in a while, and I'm just glad I managed to get home safely, even though it was almost 2am by the time I did.
I guess rough is putting it mildly.

Wow if I read your story that way it really looks like a rough few weeks!
But if you want to change that, have less stress, you can do it so too.
How rough it is or will be depends on our own attitude.
In times like these it helps if you: build in time for yourself to relax, no matter how busy you are or how much people say they need you to do something (for them).
To not always be the first one to offer to do something.
To be happy with what you bought even if it's not working great from the very fist start.
To not regret what you did or bought in times you are in financial need if you could afford it at the moment you bought it.
To take some distance from everything and see it as someone elses problem.
To live with by the moment.
And to discover and know that most problems will solve itself and it's useless to get upset about it.

I am glad that you were able to get home safely, although it is a bummer that your van broke down. I hope your boss can help you get it fixed.

It's not going to be cheap, but she'll come through somehow. She always does when we have trouble with it.

Our insurance company has an option called emergency road service, and it costs about $2.50 every six months. It will pay for towing, jump starting and the girl in the office says that it will pay if I have to be shoveled out of snow. Best money we ever spend and it is the part of our insurance we have counted on. I imagine you were tired, cold and desperate so I am glad you have two room mates who will check on you. What did hubby think about all of this?

I wish I had roadside assistance, but it's pretty expensive up here. It's about $80/year. I wish I had it yesterday, it would have made life much easier for me.

Wow, it does sound like you had a rough day. I saw in another discussion that you laid the van to rest so I guess that she decided to not fix it this time. Were you able to find a replacement yet? I hope that you are able to get back on the road soon as I know that having a vehicle is the only way you are able to work. Have a great weekend!!!

Kris -- Yes I did not see your postings for a long time. I rad your loooong posting. I am happy inspite of not so good mood--on account of lack of work you managed to type so many meaningul words.
Yes. there in USA you have to fight against the nature besides fighting against economy. Some days result in taxing you more.
Be hopeful. I wish you get a job/work soon. Try new companies/methods/people.
