I changed the layout in the dining room yesterday and today I was thinking about the living room.
I'm sitting on the floor right now with my laptop, wondering if my idea of couch placement will work.
I'm posting a picture below that has one couch over by the window right now, and once the tv is moved, I was thinking about putting the other couch there as well.
I want to know what you think about it, does the idea work? My roommate doesn't think so, but I'm good with the idea.
Look at the picture and tell me what you think. Is it a good idea, or should I not put the 2 couches there?

It's difficult to say unless we see a plan. Or at least what is on the other side that the pic didn't show.
Where are you going to place the tv once you've moved the couches? Make sure you can still watch properly and have enough space for access.
I would put the tv against the wall, the other couch across it to divide up the space. I don't know though if that is a good idea since I don't know what's after the arch opening at the left, or how big the second couch is. Just sharing some ideas.

The couches are the same size which helps. With the tv moved out of that corner, there is more than enough room for both couches and still room to move around.
Below is a picture of the other side of the room. The tv would go in the corner where the bookcase is now and that would get shifted down a bit.
I'm keeping access in mind with this changeup, which is why I'm doing it in the first place.
The front entrance is over past the arch and another bedroom.

I guess that's okay. But if you place your tv there, and your access is in between the tv and the couches, would't it be a disturbance to the watcher when someone keeps crossing to get from one side to the other?
But if the people living in that place is few, then I guess it's okay.
Do show us how it'll look after you're done. I wanna see.

We already have people walking through and blocking the tv as it is, so we're used to it. But moving the tv will help as the cable is lying loose on the floor right now and it's a tripping hazard. By moving it, the cord will be against the wall rather than in the middle of the floor.

A little more light could have been of help in analyzing the overall space.
. Perhaps it would have been better if the camera position was different and not aginst the glare coming in from the big window.
Nevertheless, I have made a simple sketch incorporating my suggestions which is uploaded with the response. This plan gives you the following advantages:
You don't have to move the TV from its current position
The two couches will be at right angle [90 degrees] relative to each other which will help:
people on the two couches will be able to talk comfortably
every one will be able to watch the TV comfortably from their seats
You can make space for the small center table, while still leaving space for people to move about
Let me know the disadvantages if any you find; we can refine the arrangement.

Your sketch is exactly the way it already is, except each couch has its own table. And this is the problem and it's why I want to change it up. It's becoming a hazard to us with the one couch being in the way when you try to walk into the dining room.

I have edited the photo to make objects appear more clearly. The dog is visible more clearly now.
The position of TV is the same but I think the position of couch in the photo are different:aren't they? I have moved the couch next to TV farther from the TV
. I should have known your basic objective for changing better. So, you are trying to free up space for walking freely into dining? I'm still unable to make out the location of dining. Can you clarify it relative to some objects? I can give you plan B with a bit more explaining by you.

I've completed the change and I'm satisfied with it. I'll post a new topic for it.

I left a comment on the picture that I think the couch would go okay at right angles, but not in one continuous line. If it was all in a straight line it would not lead to much conversation. Where are you moving the television?

I was going to angle one couch a little bit, so it's similar to the angle that the tv currently is.
The tv would go to the other side of the room where the bookcase is, maybe on an angle as it is now, but I'll have to figure that out.
My roommate said the same thing about conversation. But angling the one couch would make that easier.
Where the one couch is right now, it's in the way, so it has to move.
I was debating putting the couch in another spot on the right side of the fireplace and putting one couch under the window. But that would mean moving the wall unit and it's going to be difficult to say the least.

You might try the both couches out a bit from the wall and the 2nd couch perhaps at a 90º angle from the first... is there a fire place there? you might try both couches out and at a 45º angle to the window, that would give you storage behind them and still allow easy conversation and to see the TV

I am sorry that I am of no help as to this matter. I am not artistic. Good luck on arranging your house and I hope you can make it.
