We always hear of CEO being paid truckloads of money for a job done well. And at the same time, salary of the rank and file workers are being frozen.
So it got me thinking, what exactly is the role of a CEO?
What does he do in the company in terms of contribution to the company?
Just a top of the head gripe, in view of the recent news.
Do share your thoughts.

CEO is there to give orders, make sure the company is running well. CEO gives jobs to people since they are too busy in making money or expanding the company. When it's a big company, there's no way and no time for a CEO to visit every department, check on the way they work. That's where an audit team is employed to check on such things. A CEO is the brain behind the company and like our body. IF we fall sick, do we change our brains? No right, we simply get to the root of the problem and solve it there

I think that the post of CEO can be very well compared to that of prime Minister of a country. No matter whether he has that much work to do or not, but the thing is, he responsible for the work done under him. Infact, a CEO has to answer for the whole company. Any mistake by any part of company is blamed to the CEO. I think it is one of the most troublesome and high tension jobs. He deserves the pay for the responsibility he takes.

Good question! LOL But remember some CEO's (Chief Executive Officers) get paid a lot of money for sometimes not a job well done. It's is such a shame that these people get paid these large sizes of money but can run their company into the ground, etc.

Usually, the CEO starts the company. They do all of the work from the beginning, then as the company grows, they decide who is going to be involved, and the general direction the company is going to take, as well as approving all projects, investments, and personnel. Then, as the company grows, perhaps they need a board of directors, and they take on some of those responsibilities, and then it is the CEO's job, to know what is going on, and set the goals for the company to achieve in the coming days, weeks, months and years.
And since they did most of the work, and were smart enough to get other people to help them, they get paid on their work, as well as their peoples work...sounds kinda like a pyramid scheme, but that is how it goes, and since value flows both ways, can't be all that bad.
At least that is how I view it.
