Just last night I was watching the new Sherlock Holmes movie and there was also an option to watch the latest mission impossible movie from the confines of my home free of cost!.These are movies that have recently been released and I think mission impossible is still to be released in many countries. I used to hear people talking about these sites where you could watch the lastest movies for free and used to think that it was a hoax however being at home over the holidays and bored as hell ,I decided to try one of these sites out (I wont call the sites here lol) Now it dawned on me that movie and music companies must be taking serious losses due to these seemingly illegal downloads however, I am not sure I feel sorry for them because I sometimes when I hear that mounts of monies that these companies make ,it seems that they were already overcharging us .I mean look at it,one cd costs up to fifteen dollar and some artist have sold millions of these units making many such artists almost instantaneos millionaires and the same goes for movies .Dont get me wrong I dont envy any of these artists their success nor will I undervalue thier intellectual capital but why is it that they get to make so much money while the average workers get paid pennies on the dollar .Why is it that their input is so highly valued when many persons do much harder phyiscal and mentally draining work get paid much less . Just asking some questions here but I owuld love your take on it !

I don't feel sorry for the entertainment companies, really. I haven't bought a Hollywood big blockbuster movie in forever. I've only gone to the movie theater a couple times this year. I do download some things illegally, but it's mainly because I can't get to my local library where I usually borrow things, but sometimes they don't work right and it's my only other option, for music I mostly look up songs on YouTube and then if I like it I'll buy it.

like you I rarely go to movies but I don't download because of the many viruses you are likely to pick up .I will go on legit sites to watch movies that are streamed to my computer free of cost .however I don't feel bad for the movie companies because many of them make so much money ..far too much in my mind

I agree, it's wrong to steal movies and content. But it's hard to feel sorry for them when they charge SO much! The theater used to cost 5$, then they went up to 7, now it's like 10$ per person to see a movie at night. Some theaters will be 6$ at daytime, 12$ at night. Why does it need to cost DOUBLE at night? It's the same movie on the same screen, why does night or day matter? If anything, all these people stealing movies will maybe trigger the movie industry to start figuring out better deals. We rent redbox now - 1$ a movie. It's nice because we only rent once in awhile. We only go out to a real movie a few times a year. If the price were cheaper, we would go more often.

Thank you for your response .Like you said and I agree they dont have to charge as much and worse I cant understand the variable fees .I also hope that they will realize the power in getting volume as opposed to making a tonne from the few who go to movies.I am not saying it has to be a dollar per movie but certainly more reasonable

I've wondered about those sites myself. At one point I even watched a couple of movies on them but I wasn't pleased with the quality of the film. I don't mean the story line. The image was grainy and the sound quality was poor. Anyway, like you I don't feel sorry for the people who made the film. I don't think they lose that much revenue from sites like these. I do know that it takes a great many people to make one CD. It is not all done by the one who sings the song. That 15.00 has to be shared by all the people who work on it. Still, I think they make a lot more money than I do.
