And I love it! I'm not usually a big card player, but it requires logic and strategy and that usually isn't my strong point, but I love it. At first, I found it hard trying to remember all the different types of hands you could have, but I'm getting there!
Have you ever played Poker or Texas Hold 'Em? Would you be willing to learn if you don't know how?

hi stephanie!
started playing poker for money last year. i joined two company sponsored poker tournaments and played 15th and 9th respectively. finished in the money for both tourneys and was really happy with the results. also started playing poker online but not for real money. just played at the play money tables at betUS to improve my poker skills. also played poker with friends. no serious money involved, mostly 1/2 with a starting fund of $50. just grinding away and learning the game.
its not like i'll be quitting my day job and move to atlantic city or vegas and start living off my poker wins! hahahaha! just playing poker for small stakes and hopefully build a good bankroll for my other endeavors. also for what's it worth, always believed in the adage that poker is a game that is easy to learn but takes a lifetime to master.
anyway, do have fun playing poker!

hi stephanie!
i know what you mean. don't rush into playing at casinos or cash games that have large small and big blinds lest you find yourself at the losing end. anyway, playing with friends and strangers in an actual casino or poker house is different. best that you be mindful of your verbal and body language when you are playing even with friends so you don't give your hand away. you might also want to consider your table position at each hand to determine how you would play your cards.
anyway, keep us updated. its always nice to talk to someone about poker in a non-gambling site. lol!
keep plugging!

I agree. But it wasn't that easy for me to learn! Too many different hands you can have!
I'll probably just play among my friends for awhile. I'm not that good to gamble at casinos or anything yet! I'd be broke!

Oh yes...I love playing Holdem. I used to play alot more than I do now but I always have fun when I do. I play on Pokerstars.com and I used to play on Fulltilt before they shut it down. There were real money options on there but I always play for play chips. I liked playing on facebook for a while but it become more of a pain than fun so I stopped. I have the game on Xbox live too. I like to play with friends on occasion too. It is very different playing with people in person..lol..you can read their clues.
I'm glad you are enjoying the game. It can be a lot of fun.

hi jen!
pokerstars and fulltilt! now those are two poker sites that i miss dearly! lol!
ever since black friday hit the online poker sites, it seems that these two sites along with absolute poker are mere memories of a long lost time.
lol!
$ucks that some of my friends and some people whom i've known in some online poker forums still have money in their fultilt and pokerstars' accounts. hopefully, they get the money owed to them by these sites.

Oh yes...there were alot of people that lost their money on there. I always played for the play chips though. I'm glad I never put money on there...I thought about it before. My b/f still plays on a site..I think it is Pokerstars. He is constantly wanting me to download it on my laptop so I can play with him but so far I haven't I figured it would be a waste if they closed them. I'll have to ask him which one he is playing on the is still going.

That's cool! Poker stars has been seized by the US Governmet and won't provide real money to Us residents anymore. That's upsetting. Oh well. I think I'd lose all my money anyway! I'm not that good at it! IT's all luck and strategy though, I suppose!

Glad he won! i'd be afraid I'd lose all my money. But I was the winner of the game last night!
Texas Hold 'Em is really similar to Poker. The only thing is, yu only have 2 cards. You have to match them to the ones on the table. Try to make a hand like you would in Poker.

I have played poker in the past but never Texas Hold"em. I don't play cards alot. I do when I get together with my family like I did on Saturday. If not card games we play other games like "Catch Phrase".

I see. Catch phrase is fun, actually. I like Apples to Apples and other games like that as well. I actually just got into Texas Hold 'Em. I'm pretty decent at it!

I envy you, StephanieAnnC. I'm terrible at cards most of the time.
I think I was somehow negatively effected by the fact that my parents had a gambling house. Poker was the name of the game and I have many fond memories as I spun the card players' favorite 45 records when requested. You'd think I'd be good at cards. I'm so terrible, that when it comes to math (probability and statistics are my strengths and I am a statistics tutor), if you ask me to show you how to figure out the probability of a flush or anything poker, I couldn't help you because I have a mental block.

I find it funny how you grew up with cards and majored n statistics and still aren't too good at them! I guess you hated it so much that the information just didn't mesh into your head! I was introduced to it with a bunch of friends, so I guess I was more prone to enjoying it!
