Can You Resume a Resolution???

I have made New Year's resolutions before, and even renewed resolutions, but I think this is the first time I have resumed a resolution. For instance, entering 1983 I resolved that I would read a book for each week of that year. I succeeded in keeping that resolution and have renewed every year since. So this is the 30th year for my commitment to read at least 52 books in the year. And I have a record of all the books that I read over the years.
At the beginning of 1981 I committed to write a note to someone for each day of that calendar year. I succeeded in writing 365 messages that year. And I renewed that commitment every year until 2002. By that time I had begun to send so many electronic messages that I had almost quit going to the post office. So I decided not to continue the resolution that year. I tried it again in 2005, but found it difficult to continue, and only made it through mid-March before quitting. I also have records for all of the handwritten messages I have sent.
A few days ago, New Year's Eve I believe, a friend of mine on Facebook posted something about the joy of receiving handwritten messages in the mail. It made me think of my old habit fondly. I thought of all the notes of encouragement, and appreciation, and sympathy I had sent over those 20+ years. I told her about the practice and suggested that it sounded like a New Year's resolution in the making.
So I decided that I would resume the resolution for 2012. And not only do I plan to hand write the messages, I plan to create most of the greeting cards on Print Artist myself. I hope the messages that I send will bring joy to those who receive them. And I'm sure that I will gain a measure satisfaction if I can keep this resumed resolution.

Yes you most certainly can and congratulations to you for applying yourself in such a digilent way. You must be very self-disciplined and meticulous to achieve all that you have.
Your friend is quite correct to state that the arrival of an unexpected letter is an exciting event. I like writing myself, (in a very modest way), but I'm afraid I have got out of the habit of late. I need to take up my pen again. There is nothing like a handwritten letter. It is so personal and intimate. An email doesn't even come close.

thanks for the response RR77, perhaps you will be motivated to get back to writing notes again also! then both your friends and my friends will receive encouragement in the new year, and we will both have the satisfaction of doing a good thing.
