Golden Globe winner "The Artist" is an homage to Silent Movies, and is filmed in that format-One cinema (Maybe more!) received complaints from some cinemagoers who were unaware of this after going in and wanted their money back..With the result staff are now having to inform viewers..
Has something like this ever happened to You?

well..u know the basic rule of "AN' must be use with the words starting with AEIOU.
so the H isnt one of them... its common mistakes since some people pronounced HOMAGE Om'age,, instead of Hom'age// so it feels comfortable to say An Omage...
but ..its a Homage..
same like New Yorker..says Smokin' instead of Smoking.. Talkin' instead of Talking..or Yal..instead of You all :)
here..i copy/paste from a proper dictionary..

Webster’s New World currently recognizes two equally accepted pronunciations of the word: either HOM-ij or OM-ij. Since the pronunciation with “h” is listed first, that would favor “a homage” over “an homage.” *
meaning..unless u starting to write/or spell it - "an omage to King (example).. etc..
u gotta stick to "A Homage.for this few decades..ya?

Wow, that's too funny lol. I've never had this happen. Since going to the movies can be a little expensive, I do some research before going. Usually I just watch the trailer from a movie app on my phone. The app also has reviews and ratings from rotten tomatoes and a few other movie critic sites. I don't always go off of what the critics say because we all have different opinions. If I see a trailer I like,I'll make an effort to go to the theater to see it. Sometimes I'll be a little disappointed because I thought the movie would've been better and sometimes I'll come out thinking it was better than expected.

When i was younger i would go to the cinema irrespective of the type of movie. In those days i would see any movie.Under such circumstances i would be willing to see any type of movie though something like what you are mentioning never happened to me.Nowadays i read the reviews about a movie before deciding to watch hence I am not caught unawares about the type of movie.

before im going to see a new movie i always find time first to research something about that movie first if i find it interesting then i will be checking it out but if its not on the type or kind of movie i wanna see and spend time to watch and worth the cost then maybe just let it past

I normally go for more main stream films, and I seldom get to them before they've been reviewed 100 times. I try to steer clear of plot spoilers, I did manage to see "The Sixth Sense" before I found out what was happening from anybody else. I don;t know how anybody could miss the fact that a film is a silent movie, if they are that interested in the subject they should have half a clue. I think they are just trying it on, and I don't blame them th cost of oing to the cinema is getting really silly these days.
