I've just learned about Charm Paks and bought a couple paks. THey are so beautiful just as the pak they are, but lots of uses. I just love looking at hte beautiful colors! Anyway, I have been working this week with them..they are just 5" squares. You sew them together in different ways to make triangles, and double sided squares etc. Hardest part of course is keeping everything straight and even. HARD HARD HARD!!! I watch the tutorials and videos and even the tv shows and they make everything look so easy! I have athe same tools they have and I think I am doing it the same way they do...(sure looks the same!) but my stuff never turns out as nice and even and straight as theirs does! I was working this week on making pinwheels. 2 squares different colors, cut in half, then cut in half again and sew together opposite colors together and volia! you have a pinwheel. Okay, yeah you do, but mine weren't as neat and staight as theirs. Don't know why! I went on to make the blocks bigger, and nothing of course lined up and then went on to...well...just went on and on and the quilt front is finished, obvious mistakes and normally I'd be so mad, but I decided to just make it a small "baby doll" size quilt and use it to practice learning everything and then it goes to the kids room for a "baby doll" blanket for their dolls or to play with. I am not depressed about it at all and have learned so much. Have you had a project that you did, that you had high hopes for, but at every turn it didn't work out, but you were able to make a go of it anyway?

Hmmmmmm sounds familiar~! I used to do alot of quilting and occasionally things didn't work out....but I just trimmed etc until it fit and I don't think anyone noticed..it just takes practice. My sister's quilts were all so wonderful.....mine looked homemade and her's looked professionally done!

It is not exactly easy to quilt...and takes practice. I just did one...it didn't work out like I wanted so I just finished it for a doll quilt for the kids. I just do the best I can and I know with practice, like anything else, I will get better! I just have found that I first need to learn what things DO or are FOR before I buy! Otherwise, I would have bought jelly rolls or fat quarters and not the charm packs!
