Lets say for a week you are going to be a Highschool teacher, we know how crazy teenagers are, we had been teenagers ourselves and we know how hard it is to be surrounded by rebellious, unpredictable and sometimes dangerous teenagers. Its like swimming in a pool of piranhas. If you will be a Highschool teacher(I know you dont want to, this is a what if topic), how long do you think you can last? Do you think you can handle the pressure? Do you think you have the guts and leadership skills?

In order to be a High School teacher myself I should have the guts and leadership qualities to handle the teenagers otherwise it is no use to be in that profession.

For a long time I wanted to be a High School English teacher. I have the patience for it. I just decided not to because I didnt want to have all of the schooling for it. I would do it though. I have more patience than most people from what others tell me...

so you can handle disrespectful teenage boys, teenage girls chatting while you are discussing on the board, or those teens who pull pranks on teachers just for the kicks of it. I just realized this discussion reminds me of Michelle Pfeiffer in Dangerous minds and Sidney Poitier in To Sir with love. teachers who can manage to fix the lives of troubled teens, I wish they exist for real.

After raising 4 girls on my own and dealing with all of their friends and boyfriends as well as working in a job where I deal with teens all the time, I don't think it'd be a problem. I really don't have much problem with most teens. It's a matter of not judging them and treating them with respect. I really don't have a problem with teens. I had one teen that was really tough and I lived through that..thought I wouldn't...at times wished I wouldn't but did. That was one in 4 and I was the one responsible for her. Teens aren't so bad at all..most anyways.

there were times were we just can believe we get through something so hard and survived it with flying colors. The psychology of teens is interesting cos they were something in between a child and an adult. they were going through a phase. I think i can handle dealing with some but I dont know if I have the patience to handle 20 to 50 teenagers. Teachers deserve a higher salary, their job is psychologically hard and they dont get decent pay.

this is a tough job. yes, being a high school teacher is tough. it entails a lot of hard work, understanding and patience. the characters and traits of youngsters nowadays are difficult to handle and manage. i think i can do the job, but i do not see myself doing it for a longer time. let's say two years may be enough just to get experience with teaching and pushing myself to the limits.

Elementary teachers can intimidate their students but in case of Highschool teachers, students are not scared even if teachers threatened them to give them low grades. teens are happy go lucky,If I will be a highschool teacher for a week, its going to be a traumatic experience for me,.

handling teenagers is the most difficult task of life and it is like holding water in your palm.for example if you want to hold the water then you should have patience.other wise it will go from your palm and you can not do anything. as i say teenager are like water so we have take patience when we are interacting with them.and if i will be high school teacher then sure i can handle them because i know ruling on them is good for you and them so we have take patience. if i will be teacher then i will have to think like them so that i can understand them wisely.

Give them too much attention they will rebel, Not give them attention they will rebel too. They were very unpredictable. How do you think can stay patient to those Teenageboys who will try to intimidate you or teenage girls who will be mean. How do you think you can make them respect you as their teacher, as authority. How do you think you can make them listen if they were not interested?

oh I really can relate in this, BSED is my course so if i can finish I'll be teaching teenagers or the high school. Yes, indeed they are so hard to handle especially in this generation, teenagers nowadays are getting worst but not all, although some are kind of what we call rebellious, unpredictable and sometimes stubborn, but even though they are like that, for sure they know how to respect their elders especially their teachers. For me, I think I can handle them, in an easy or hard way. Before, i decided to get this course I really promised to myself that I will always bear in my the Quotation " Patience is a virtue"...hehe

As an aspiring teacher, Why had you chose teenagers over the more submissive little kids and the more mature adult college students. I think you should also prepare physically, you know exercise 1 hour a day so your heart will be healthy and you can handle the emotional challenges. I watched a 1960's old movie about a teacher in Highschool and in that movie,it showed teens had been that wild even in the past. I hope you can take the challenge with a smile. I mean if you get all those kids graduate, It will be your achievement.

Its a job I'd take with a lot of reluctance.I'll try to make the job as interesting and creative as possible.I have been dealing with two teenage sons and I've realized that forcing our opinion on them doesn't help.It has more to do with discussing getting their views and trying to get them more involved in things more useful for them.In short make it more interesting for them by getting them more involved in the topic at hand.

I think teenagers hated being treated like a kid, they wanted to be treated as adults but its kind of hard though. I dont think I will ever want to be a teacher, specially of kids and teenagers, I think we need strong emotions to handle them specially if they were disrespectful. So you dont have girls in your house? I think a lot of parents said girls are easier to handle than boys but for sure it depends in situation cos there are girls crazier than boys. I remember when I was highschool 1 teacher quits cos she cant handle my classmates anymore. Her walkout inspired me to do this discussion.
