While I was running some errands this morning I seen a little old lady with a walker crossing the street, the guy making a right hand turn waited patiently to let her cross but cars behind him were tooting there horns at him to hurry up and go.
I'm like "can't you see this little old lady trying to cross the street on her walker"
?
What's wrong with people that they can't take a few seconds out of their live to let a little old lady cross the street?
Is all the stress, loosing of jobs and the all around mess of this country driving people crazy?

Some people are just rude and don't like the idea they might be late for something. Depending on the ammount of trafic, you can only see so much in fron of, behind and to the side of you. Traffic jams often get people pissed off and normally considerate people become incoonsideriate. And, its easy to be annoyed, but what would you do if you were in their shoes and didn't know what was going on?

Hello Missybear,
I don't what has happened to people specially the younger generation they just don't think anything about the elderly people
. I have seen lot of people in INDIA who have abandoned their parents due to their old age
.I have seen old people being murdered at their home to rob their money.I don't know where the world is going and what has happened to the people as they have forgotten the etiquette & courtesy.

I think its sad to see people treat others poorly. Times are a lot different today, then when I grew up. Many people won't hold the door for others no matter how much the other person needs help. Its sad to see this happening and wish people would think about their actions. I hold the door for anyone that can use my help and I'm a senior citizen.

Hi missy! I don't understand what it is about people in cars! We have
the same problems here where I live. I almost got hit by a woman who
was going way too fast and had a red light, but wasn't paying attention
and really stopped in time to not knock me down literally! I was shaking
and cursing! We have this problem all over. For some reason people that
are driving don't care that people on foot sometimes need to cross the
streets! And sometimes there are those (like this older lady) who just
can't go any faster! And here it is winter and cold and sometimes snowy
and icy and while these people are sitting in their nice warm cars and
we are trying to catch a break to just cross a street I really wonder
what the hell is wrong with them?

It is sad whne people cannot wait a few seconds to allow an elderly person to cross the street. I know I have the same problem with my husband being in a wheel chair. Many people park in a handicap spot that do not have a placard saying that they are handicap or have a handicap plate. The other day my husband and I went to Walmart and while I was pushing my husband these cars were honking at us and yelling at us to hurry up.

I am blind and I cannot see, if I choose from both options...they are the same things
I am pissed at things like that happening too. People have give no regards to elderlies when crossing the road. It is uncommon to see someone actually stop to give a signal to elders that they may cross the road. Even if they do so, there would still be another lane to watch out from. Even if I am not an elder, I give the "stop" sign whenever I am crossing and sometimes people just do not bother to acknowledge it. Some people are just

People seeing a lady or a man with sight problems and a walker should wait for him or her to cross the road. The key when this situation arises is everyone should be patient. It is not right to be in such a hurry so to make the car will go toot toot. The guy was right to wait but the drivers behind should be ashamed of themselves.
I have poor eyesight. I have a pair of glasses that I wear when I am not wearing my contact lenses. I buy a set of contact lenses to last for one year. Then I get a new pair to wear each day. I throw the old pair in the bin.

Doesn't it get quite expensive throwing them away and getting new ones all the time?

hi missybear Here in the US an old lady with a walker gets about as much respect as a drunken street person. So we the elderly ha ve to be twenty times more careful crossing the street or we will get
hit.Elderly people seem to be classed just inches above street walkers.I have no real idea why we are held in such disrespect unless
its simple fear of getting old. like maybe being too close to
us the age might rub off on them. I have meet some people who do treat
us with respect but most of them are not native born Americans.I
now that I have to use a walker am really afraid to cross the
street anymore knowing how little regars most motorists have
for us. I am so glad I have a son who does respect me as I meet
so m any who will talk down to me like they think I am senile
or an idiot. When I meet someone who treats mw like I am not elderly
I am so happy.

I think those things have a lot to do with it but I also think that there has been a loss of respect for the elderly for a long time. I hate to say it but I remember when I was a child, there was, even then, a disrespect for older people from them. II was raised by the grandfather and if he ever taught me anything, it was to respect people who were older than me. I loved him dearly and when I would see peers being nasty about someone that was old...I would be fighting mad...literally.
Over the years it seems to be getting worse and worse. I hate it too.

Actually, not just the elders, I think they won't stop and honk to just anyone crossing the street if they're too slow. They don't even care whether it's in school area where they supposed to drive slow and let the school children crossing the road. I once saw a kid standing in the middle of the street while waiting for the traffic to clear a bit before he could cross safely to the other side. It was very dangerous and he could get hit. Where are they rushing to anyway? Can they just be patient for a few minutes?

You got a very good point there, it shouldn't matter who is crossing the street the cars should wait for them. I just felt bad for the little old lady cause she was trying to hurry and the nice guy was patiently waiting while these A-holes behind him just kept honking.

maybe they did not see the lady? how inconsiderate they are to ask the guy in the front to hurry up. People prioritize their jobs and their time too much sometimes that they forget courtesy.
