How do you handle your kitten

when they get into everything?
I have balls with bells in them, which they love; we have a crinkly toy that Cinder (my ginger kitten) just adores. Ella Bella loves to play with paper that is crunched up and runs up and down the hall way with it all.
So keeping that in mind, how the heck do you not get annoyed with them when they get into everything else? Cinder has a thing for my boyfriend's stuff on his desk or his bookcase.
We do use a water bottle if they don't settle down, which works well. But how does one not lose their mind? lol

We have 2 kittens and a young cat tearing through the house at the moment; I do often lose my mind just listening to them! My kids try to play with them to tire them out but it doesn't matter; they still seem to get into EVERYTHING. But, they will outgrow it, so just hang in there!

haha, isn't it awesome when you hear them running down the hallway? In our house it sounds like a herd of wild animals! I can't even describe it!
Oh they will grow out of it and then I will be wondering when they turned into slugs!
As it is every day 2 of them perch by the window to watch the birds on the feeders, it is pretty cute to see how they learn from their elder cat :)

I had four kittens at once, and was trying to get through college.
I would have to leave my house to study! They drove me stark raving mad! I opened a book, at least 2 were on it and trying to flip the pages for me (lol) someone getting on the desk and knocking stuff off it(that is how Stinker got his name) running about like crazed kittens on caffeine! When I got annoyed, I would just leave for a bit. My, what fun times!
In about 2 years they will settle down enough to be manageable. Until then, may God bless you with extra strength sanity and wisdom.

You had me giggling at the visual of you trying to study and the kittens laying on your books and getting into your desk! Boy oh boy do we know what that is like lol.
Four kittens! Yowsa!! You must have had the strength of a goddess not to want to crate them til they got older LOL!
Yet, every day no matter how insane the house gets sometimes, I will always see one of them sleeping with the older cat Jingles or the two kittens sleeping together, (all together now AWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW) LOL!

Let me just say for that record that Ella is cute, and that you always want to have toys for them, plenty of food, places for them to play, places for them to sleep, and you want to make sure that they are litter box trained. I have had cats, four in all, for nearly 16 years now, and it gets easier as they grow older, but I do miss the kitten stage. When they were kittens you could teach them anything and train them to do just about anything, and as they grow up, that becomes much harder to do. Enjoy them while they are kittens because this is the best time to teach them things.

We have two kittens in the house now. They are adorable of course, but so naughty. Well kittens are like that anyway. They will pulled anything that hang - wires and even clothes hanging on the drying rack. They even chased my mom's chicken. I felt sorry for the chicks.
But since they're small we have to be careful not to step on them. So I put collar with a bell on each of the kitten. If they're wrecking the house then I'll just put them outside. Though that will be bad news for the chicken.

Cats can be trained not to get into trouble. However, kitten are very active, and you have to be paicent with them. They are going to wonder around, they are going to want to know what is what. And, you can train them, but don't expect things to change overnight.
Try to give them as much freedom as possible, and limit what you restrict. Put the bookcase and what no in a room you can seal off when you're not around to watch them. And, keep your eye on the rest of the time. Be consistant with them until you see the behavior has stopped completely. Don't slip even if you see improvment. Cats will be quick to revert otherwise.

I can't have anything nice around my house. My cats, who go wherever they want, will knock down anything that gets in their way. (Actually, I have to admire them for that.) They knocked down, and broke, my coffee pot once. I try to be patient because I realize they cannot understand that they are doing something wrong. And I can't stop them because they move too fast. But I don't like it like this. I still haven't figured out the solution.

Water bottle. Also highly effective is putting them in a room by themselves after pointing out what they have done wrong. I cannot stand my cats to be on tables or counters and they get a water bottle a lot. Now not so much, they have learned. At least when Momma is looking, not to go on tables and counters.

Just remember that one day they will be old, fat, and lazy, and will ignore you when you try to get them to play.

*giggles* isn't that the truth! My one year old cat, is playful still, but he is starting to show the "lazy" side every now and again!

They are so funny! I love kittens. I used to have cats when I lived by myself. Now that I live with my daughter and her hubby I can't have a cat. I sure do miss having a cat. I had to give my kitten away ... luckily another mylotter has her and is a great mommy to her.

Aww, sorry you don't have your kitten anymore, but that is wonderful that another MyLotter does!

Hey there sassybrat,
I love cats not as much as dogs but i do love them, before we had cats but they kinda passed on since they were very old and some we have let go of (for good reasons) before my cats just go home when they need to the whole day they are just lying around playing with any clothes on the clothes line jabbing at it, they were nice to have unfortunately i leave in an apartment that does not allow pets like dogs and cats I only have barry my fish.
