...as part of your life? If so, what did it mean to you and what does it mean to you now?
I wanted music company today while I was mylotting and I came across Janis Joplin and Joan Baez. I listened again to "Blowing in the wind" and thought how the lyrics still have all their meaning because nothing has changed
For those who remember, for those who heard about it: what is its meaning to you? Share!

Hiya margi,
The answer my Friend Margi is blowing in the wind lol yes I remember this one and I still like it.
We don´t here much of it though I would have to go to You tube to find it and listen to it as I don´t have a lot of Music Cds in the House at the moment.
So many from before that I do like but sing every so often but nothing more than that.
Perhaps Phil Collins and Elvis Presley songs are what I sing the most sometimes all depends really.xxx
Happy listening margi.xxx

I have downloaded free a lot of wonderful music. And besides that we have you tube although I don´t see well the images there. I have almost all Elvis (my love
) because I have downloaded it from internet. I have those old vinyl records from my youth but they are a lot more difficult to play and many are scratched from parties decades ago.

Hiya margi,
At last and finally they have clamped down on free downloading here and EMULE is going to be something of the past so it seems not sure what is going on really loads of protests though as I thought there would be.
Have always loved Elvis too and that Voice of his I don´t really think that there will ever be another Elvis the same as Nino Bravo no one can really imitate them as well as themselves also like Rocio Jurado she had such a wonderful voice as well.xxx

Hiya margi,
Was just thinking that at least we have the Radio on the Television which I sometimes listen to the Music is okay but not always what I really like.
Not much of Elvis Songs here just lately and not even of Michael Jackson either.
There are some really good Spanish Groups and they are nice to listen to every so often.
One of my favourites is "Chambao" she has a really lovely soft voice she is on you tube so you can listen to her on there.
Also La Oreja de Van Gogh she is good too and Rosario Flores the Daughter of Lola Flores.xxx

I remember my dad having DVD copies of Woodstock concert.. is that what you are talking about? It is what I remember when he usually talks about Woodstock and says that people would usually be there and sleep there so they can be there at the concert where great artists are gonna perform.

That´s the Woodstock I am talking about. It has been one of the biggest gatherings of people to listen to music ever. There is a movie about it too: you can download it as it is part of the world´s history of music. I´m sure you will find there many themes that are still sung everywhere inthe world.

Hi, I think that Marguicha is talking about a movie of 2009, named "Talking Woodstock", is a funny commedy, with great music too, I am sure you and your dad can enjoy it together. And the DVD of the concert is a great collection piece as well, did you know that one of the film-makers involved were Martin Scorsese, when he studied at the New York film academy?

I think Woodstock did happen in my lifetime, but I was too young to care. I liked "Blowing in the wind" (one of my favorites growing up). We played it at church a lot. I didn't really get into music much until I was in high school in the late 70s though.

Blowing in the wind is a beautiful song. It should be sung more often and children should learn the lyrics.

I don´t remember, since I was born on 1968, but, I grew up listening to this music, and being in Woodstock were one of my child fantasies. Some years ago, I had to oportunity to go to the Yasgur Farm, in fact, I think it is not the place were the actual concert took place, since, many areas have been urbanized this past 40 years, but you can see in the town all sort of stores and memorabilia, and centres dedicated to the art and the concert, and being in the place, is like going back to the sixties.
As I write this, I am litening to the records of the concert, Santana is playing now. :)

Woodstock was actually something that happened before my life started and for that reason I can't say that I remember it. However, I did grow up listening to music from that era because of the fact that my parents grew up with that music and thus it is something that I really appreciate.
You are definitely right that a lot of the songs from that era do still hold true because the world really hasn't moved very far since then.
