When you travel by bus, there is always a busker on the bus. She/he sings a couple of songs then she approaches every passanger to ask for a little money. Do you feel entertained? Do you give money to her? Please share with us here. Happy mylotting.

Busking is huge in my city, because we have one of the highest percentages of homeless people in north america. What this does, though, is makes people really used to not giving anything to buskers, they more often get their money from tourists, then residents. If I gave a dollar to each person that asked me for money, I'd be broke! For the people getting on the bus to preform, I think that's illegal here, because I never see that happened. I would even tell them to their face, "No." if they played a song on the bus, and then started asking everyone to pay them. Very few would pay, more would be repulsed by it.

That's too bad. I disagree to the buskers playing and singing on the bus, especially when the bus is crowded. Though, most don't give them money, there are still a few who do. So, they still make money each time they busk.

so that is how they are called buskers...this is the first time i've heard of this term being used for those carolers on the bus or jeepneys. i don't feel entertained by these so called buskers in fact i even get irritated and afraid that these kids may be part of a syndicate of hold-up gangs.

busker on the bus - A busker is playing the guitar, singing on the bus in the hope of getting money from passengers.

You may be right to a certain extent. Most are organized by some hooligans, but there are also who are honest. I am afraid that buskers being able to get on the bus should go through some kind of connections arranged by the hooligans.

What do you mean pengamen? There are several pengamen an entertaining, some are disturbing. I give money to pengamen, which I think is entertaining. I sometimes get annoyed with the pengamen. Moreover, there are some pengamen, which are sometimes very smelly body. That is making me feel uncomfortable.

So, that is how it is called, never knew about it. I haven't experienced a busker on the bus except for the little kids during Christmas season. It is different in my country. There are some people who ride the bus bringing along a bible and start preaching. Afterwards, they handout little brown envelopes to passengers for some money supposedly for the church. I don't give money to these people because I feel they are disguising as religious folks to take advantage of people. I would prefer to give to the buskers since they provide entertainment to ease boredom. A few coins would not hurt.
