my second eldest son is into rap music. you can hear him doing this in his room, in the bathroom and any place in the house, lol! though i'm really glad that he has some sort of passion to such music, it has somehow got into my nerves, and it seems to have been causing 'headaches' probably because i prefer jazz, lol! anyways, he is so sensitive and i am really having a difficult time of how to resolve this sort of minor domestic issue? any suggestions?....

Try making him get interested in other genres of music. I'm not saying make him stop listening to rap music but to get him interested i others. Try finding music that has rap music mixed with other genres (for example, jazz music with someone rapping) and ask him to listen to it. There's a chance that he will also like the other genre. Hope I helped. :)

as of now, he's really into RAP, probably it is a generation thing.. when i was teenager, i was into folk songs, then into rock music then to R&B then to finally jazz.. maybe in time as he grows old, he would learn to appreciate other genres, but for now i think as a father, i need to encourage him on what he likes to listen and enjoy doing..

Your son is very cute. In fact you shall be much more generous and accept different music. You shall also appreciate and encourage your son's singing. Any kind of music is good. I love China

i really do appreciate his singing voice, and most especially the way he creates his own lyrics and blend it into rap.. thanks..

Buy yourself an iPod and some headphones. He can keep singing and you can block it out with your favourite jazz songs. Everybody wins!

well, sometimes he really wants or rather intends to let me hear what he is rapping as he made some revisions and he would keep be asking my opinion about it, lol! encouragement is one tough task especially when one is adversely affected like me having headaches, lol!

Not all rap music is bad, you should check out all the other things he is listening to. At least he is not ding something illegal and just listening to rap music. Maybe you could also make him listen to new jazz songs..or mellow ones..

we've talked and turned out well, compromising on some things and we've amicably settled on certain limitations.. though he really felt slightly bad on my having headaches, lol! i did a rap a line or two just to make him feel i dig his music...

maybe you can tell him to just tone it down a bit cause it is making you ill to listen to, but it's only because you have a different kind of taste in music. it's not really his fault, everyone's tastes are different, personally i would be getting headaches too. i hope you have a way to resolve it so your headaches diminish again. i suffer from headaches also and there are some things others do that i believe causes them too but can't control how others act, etc. if you find a way please tell me. i'm just suggesting to you what i thought could help you, it doesn't help me, lol.
