I've got to share this with you guys cause it's so unbelievable. I have not been in the best of spirits since Christmas when I lost my dog. I've been feeling really blah and hate feeling like that...its just not me. Anyway, I haven't had a good laugh in weeks...until tonight. I'm sitting here, working on menus for a work trip that's quickly approaching and I've got TLC on who is showing a program called "My Strange Addiction". I don't know if anybody has seen this yet but you really have to watch it to believe it and even then it's hard to swallow. For instance, tonight they have this guy on who is in love with his car who he calls "Chase" (a man's name) He says that he is in love with "Chase" and makes love to him on a regular basis. He achieves this through mastur-bation and while they didn't show him doing the deed, they did show him french kissing and licking the hood of the car. I SWEAR TO GOD YOU GUYS!!!!! Next is a woman who snorts 4-5 ounces of baby powder a day..She claims she likes the smell and has been doing this since she was 15 or so, she's in her late 20's now. She takes a large bottle of the powder, pours it into a big soup bowl, gets herself a big ole spoon, scoops up a big heaping pile and shoves it up her nose...OH YES SHE DOES!!! Now they have a woman who is kind of like the baby powder lady but her thing is moth balls. She has her entire apartment, car, all her clothes, everything packed with moth balls. She, too, is a slave to the smell. Last but not least, we have the cat food lady. This crazy bitxh eats bags and bags of cat treats and like they say marijuana leads to harder drugs, the cat treats have led her to, yes, wet food. She says the wet food is better than the home made chicken soup that her Grandma used to make...She no longer eats people food and is just now concerned that maybe she should see a Dr..YA THINK??????? Hey, I don't make this stuff up. I guess this show is going to be a regular thing on Sunday nights for those of you who are interested or like me, need a good laugh. I know that laughing is at some ones expense, but what the hell,,,its funny. Scenes from next weeks show depict a woman who drinks nail polish at happy hour and a guy who is obsessed with road kill...need I go on?

ewwwww Sounds like a place where Dr. Phil or someone similar needs to go, that is disgusting and totally off the wall...
These people need help, serious help and I am glad we don't have the channel to watch it, because then I would have to monitor another crazy show..

I rarely have time for TV anyway sulsisels, not taking full-time classes now, so that's okay. Plus I don't think it would be a show I'd enjoy, it is depressing to see how some people are just messed up..
As for you leaving,
, I know you feel the need to get away with all that is going on, but I will miss you..Then again, 3 months? is what, end of May, beginning of June? I won't be busy with classes, perhaps we can catch up then.
and no, you don't need Dr. Phil, you just need a break, things will turn around for you, I know it will...

Carm...I'm disappointed that you don't get TLC there. This is by far the most horrifying show I've ever seen.Maybe I'll tape it and send it to you...I'll be home next Monday but leave on Thursday am for Jamaica and Barbados..He, (my boss) is having quite a few guests but won't give me an exact total which makes meal planning a little difficult. I'm booked pretty solid for the next three months and am kind of looking forward to the change. Its been a tuff couple of months for me and even though it will be hard work I'm ready for the islands and a change of scenery and pace. This year, so far, as not been going well. It just seems there is one problem after the next. I've got to turn this around cause being sad and depressed sucks! Maybe I'm the one who needs Dr. Phil! Later my friend..

I saw people with strange addictions on Dr. Phil, or The Doctors, or someplace. More than one person chewed school chalk. I worry about baby powder lady because the talc in it can cause cancer. I am grossed out about the owner of Chase. I do not feel so concerned about the cat food lady, although I found it not so nutritious for my cats and I make them their own food--I am probably crazy myself. I so totally agree that a good laugh is healing.

I did see the first episode of this show when it came out (I believe last year). It was really hard to believe some of the things these people do. And to think they do them on a regular basis! I know I have some wacky behavior but apparently there are some stranger ones out there than mine.

Hi Lumenmom..Thanks for your post..I know, TLC has really dug up some weird people. This new show "Strange Addictions" is off the wall. I literally drop my jaw with each segment. Even when you see him/her doing the whatever it is their addicted to you, you still can't believe what you are seeing. The old adage "It takes all kinds of people to make up this world" is so true. There are so many of these "reality shows" now it makes me think is it that there is no good talent or good writers out there to produce good shows, or is it just because people like to watch these very sick, exploited people at their worst? I don't know the answer especially when I am watching it too! It makes good "water cooler" conversation at work if nothing else! What have they missed? There is a show about the Kardashian sisters that I am so sick of its unbelievable, then there is the guy that can't keep it in his pants and has 19 children and a new one about Dance Moms...(this one is horrible,,the lady that runs the dance school Abbey Lee who is a fat pig with a mouth that would make truckdrivers blush and so on and so on and so on..Where are the Archie Bunkers and the I love Lucys and the Seinfelds and so many more from the "old days". These shows were funny and entertaining and very light..What has the TV and movie industry become. Absent,,,thats where they are! Thanks again Lumenmom

True stuff is always more entertaining than made-up stuff isn't it?
If I ever come across anything I shall let you know! A site called Newsthump is really good. It's a satirical version of the BBC News website!

That is a very strange TV show. The story about the car addict is disgusting, I can't believe a guy would lick and do "other" things to a car which he even named a guy's name.
But the last one you have mentioned caught my attention. I hope the guys addicted to road kill is not addicted to the road killing he did himself, because that would be really scary.

@ bhonti...I don't know what the whole story is about the road kill. It was a trailor for next weeks show..You.ve got to watch this show,,,Like I said, If I didn't see it, I'd never had believed it..I'll post next week!
@ stowyk..Yeah, I don't know...I think these people need more than Dr. Phil! I don't know where TLC finds these people, but they do. They do that horders show too..Is the whole world gone mad? If you think of it, tune in next Monday night. If nothing else, you'll get several laughs,,,trust me!
