Constant surprises

Again and again life shows us that we are not in control, things may seem to be going our way and all of a sudden, everything is different. This was again pointed out to me by a friend. With no warning she must move. Of course we all want to help, but other than helping her pack there is nothing anyone can do. Husband lost his job, she can't find work here so the only thing they can do is go where there is work. If you are young and don't have roots, this is not an uncommon situation, but if you are older, own property, have kids in college, pets in the house and aged parents living next door, a sudden move is very hard. As I spoke with her I was impressed at how well she was handling all this. She reinforced my belief
that is is never what happens, it's always how you look at it, that makes the life you have the best it can be. It's always our choice, situations can be trama, heart ache and terrible stress, or they can be opportunities to get excited about and find the positive things to enjoy. She gets to move to NAPA Valley which is one of the best places to live in California, it's prime wine country and a high demand area for restoring old buildings, which is what her husband does and enjoys. So even though she has many things to overcome, I can't help but be excited for her.

Bravo for you and for her, facing the future with excitement and joy. It may not be what she had planned for this part of her life, but their attitude is what will make this a successful adventure for them.

Life is a series of ups and downs. I understand what you are saying. I know for me to pick up and leave it not a choice. But for someone that is young and has their life in front of them, it is always a choice. though the dynamic might change for you and for her, the opportunities that await probably outweigh the staying where she is. It is a good thing. And it should always be looked at that way.

Hi savypat, Life is full of surprises, some good and some bad or so we think anyway. You are right in saying that much depends on our attitude, or the way we take the things that happen to us. It's good that your friend is taking the change so well and that you are excited for her. Blessings.

I have to say that the way you look at something can really have an impact on well being. It has been a sort of defense mechanism for me to look for those little silver linings. Sometimes they were bigger than I ever thought they would be too.

Life is a constant surprise.
Life teaches us to really control and self-control.
it is very important to teach yourself a lot because as they say life is trouble and teaches us to stand alone.
sometimes things do not happen as we want but most importantly we believe that we will achieve what we want and will make a good impression as they did this impression of you.
nice day!
