Constant surprises

Again and again life shows us that we are not in control, things may seem to be going our way and all of a sudden, everything is different. This was again pointed out to me by a friend. With no warning she must move. Of course we all want to help, but other than helping her pack there is nothing anyone can do. Husband lost his job, she can't find work here so the only thing they can do is go where there is work. If you are young and don't have roots, this is not an uncommon situation, but if you are older, own property, have kids in college, pets in the house and aged parents living next door, a sudden move is very hard. As I spoke with her I was impressed at how well she was handling all this. She reinforced my belief that is is never what happens, it's always how you look at it, that makes the life you have the best it can be. It's always our choice, situations can be trama, heart ache and terrible stress, or they can be opportunities to get excited about and find the positive things to enjoy. She gets to move to NAPA Valley which is one of the best places to live in California, it's prime wine country and a high demand area for restoring old buildings, which is what her husband does and enjoys. So even though she has many things to overcome, I can't help but be excited for her.
