I learned a new word today, nomophobia. Nomophobia is the fear of being out of mobile phone touch.
I find myself, when I leave my phone behind, to be anxious that I do not have it. It may be one of the reasons whi I want my wife and grown up children to have a phone, so I know they can get a hold of me if needed.

I wonder what they call the fear of being nomophobic?
That's me. I have just a basic phone for emergencies with no bells and whistles--I don't want to get addicted to it and have my moments in time stolen by a device that is constantly distracting me from life.
I know many people who would and have suffered anxiety from not having their phones. Poor people, I really feel sorry for them. Their priorities are all screwed up.

Hi Fatcat44,
People are having more and more fears nowadays. If mobile phones were never invented no one would suffer from nomophobia. However, I guess one can overcome the fear of being out of mobile range by consciously not worrying about it. Sometimes it's hard especially for people who are so used and addicted to the mobile device. If it becomes a problem one needs to seek professional help to get rid of this addiction. As for me I'm fine with or with no phone. Have a nice day.
