How to Avoid Distractions or Traps?

Traps are everywhere. I vowed I'd lead a healthy life this year, and just when I was about to finally go to the gym yesterday, I got distracted by Facebook. By the time I logged off, it was way past the closing time of the gym. Ooops. I've been wanting to eat healthy. And then, I got into a very stressful situation last week, and have been stuffing my self since then. Oh, my goodness, why do high fat, high carb food look so appetizing when you're all wired up? Ooopppss double oopps..
Argh! Why is it so hard for some people to instill discipline in themselves?! (ourselves, include me). How do we deal with traps? I've been meaning to save up money and I passed by a store with the big SALE sign waving at me. Ugh. Add, to that, I've been meaning to ease my debts, but then, that big SALE sign waved some more and so out came the credit cards and the swiping started again.
What to do?!!!
I also promised I'd be more diligent at work. And here I am lotting off. During work. Oooppsss....

Dear friend,
I feel distrations do come all the way, but being carried away with it is most dangerous at times, as most of the accidents in our place occurs due to distractions I feel so. I feel that concentration and will power of a person do have great role in avoiding distractions. Some distrations do give positive side if it helps us, but on other most of it do give a negative result when we want to go to the positive better side of life. Hope it is distract that tickles our brain decisions. May be at times brain become idel.

That's right. Some distractions could lead to accidents. And some lead to pleasant surprises. Unfortunately for me, I do not have the willpower to avoid these distractions.

Losing weight is not an easy task. You need to have the mindset for it. I remember when I became diabetic. I was 240 pounds, I then had to go on a bland diet. In about a month and a half I went from 240 to 155. I felt great. Then 4 years ago, the wife left and took the kids. That threw me for a loop. I started to gain my weight back. Now I am about 190. I need to get back to where I was. I know I can do it. And I totally know what you mean about stress. I have been cheating with the food often. I need to stop it and get back on track.

So hard, indeed. Especially for emotional eaters like me, well extremely emotional in any case, in fact. So when things happen, I just fall into the trap. But, I guess, the thing we just have to do is to just pick up and move on. And try again. Eh? Totally easier said than done, but we just have to keep trying.

We do have to pick ourselves up and move on. And I know how hard that could be, believe me. I have been in a rut for quite some years now. And I to find comfort in eating as well. And for me it's not a good idea because I have diabetes. So, I do need to control myself.

Best be careful with emotional eating especially since you're diabetic. I guess that if one could get easily distracted from having a healthy lifestyle, why not distract yourself from a craving when you're having one emotional episode, like doing any thing else other than eating and staying away from your comfort foods. Easier said than done, though.

Hello glory,
Ha ha that is really interesting dear
. I appreciate your confession. Nothing to worry as we are human beings and it is common getting distracted with attractions. Lack of determination is the main reason for all these. However, I think we can make a disciplined life for sure, is it? It is not a big deal; if you consider it as a big deal then you may get distracted more often.

Thanks!
Yes, I may be weak now, but, I'm working towards being a more disciplined person. And, I guess that aging (or maturing) is helping me deal with these traps. I am no longer as impulsive as before.

There are a lot of things that distract us in our every day life, and how we can cope with these distractions is something that a lot of people find difficult. I spent far too much money yesterday when I was out shopping, and this means that I now don't have enough money to last me for the rest of the month because I spent so much. You have to try and remind yourself why you have to do the things that you're trying to, and then set yourself specific times to do the work that needs to be done. I do find that this works for me, although you have to be very strict with yourself.

That's right. But, it's so easier said than done. Although, I'm struggling towards achieving my self-discipline. Sometimes, it works, sometimes, I just go ahead and give in. And the thing I hate most is I'm an emotional eater and emotional buyer. So, I guess the best way is to entirely avoid food and the mall when I'm experiencing a particularly strong emotion.

I believe that the reason that it is so difficult for us to have discipline is because of the fact that there are so many different temptations in the world around us.
For me, I tend to be able to avoid most of the traps because of the fact that I've disciplined myself throughout my life. However, when it comes to stresses that I face in my life, I do tend to get distracted.

You're right. There's just too much temptation. And the hard thing is if you're in a situation where you can't avoid those situations. Like, you're in a very strict diet and you work in a canteen. Ugh. And you're right, too. Stress has a very bad effect on people. Sometimes, stress is good, well,to some people at least. But for the majority of us, stress just gets us down.

Be more disciplined sis!!(^^)
Just kidding..You really need strong willing to do so. When you said it make you you did it. It is better if you have someone accompany you to the gym like your friend so you won't miss it. use small plate when you eat so and get everything inside it till it full-it still not much as if you use large plate to eat and full it with all the high fat and carb on it. About the sale store, I think you need to break you card to two pieces in order to avoid you from using it~(^^)@gloryacam (5540)

It's hard!!!
But, finally, I did go yesterday, and I'll probably go today, too. Well, let me state that, I will go today, too.
Maybe I should do that to my cards.

Oh, hahah... Go to the gym, I mean.
Body is kinda sore, but, that's because it's been a long time I have not exercised.
Of course, I won't break my cards in half.

i like this discussion. this is so true. there are indeed many distractions lurking and surprising us everyday. what is good being aware of these traps is the fact that we have set a goal in our lives. with the goal, we feel the traps and obstacles towards achieving the goal. in my case, i am trying to focus on my goals and their benefits if ever i fulfilled them.

That's right. It helps to have goals because it helps you avoid these distractions. I know now what I've done wrong in the past to get me to where I am now (in deep sh*t
) so at least when these traps appear, I now have that little voice inside me that says, do you really need this? Still, I'm in the learning process so sometimes, the distractions win. But, unlike before when I succumb immediately to these distractions, now I try to stick to the goal.
