Hi there guys, Well this discussion was inspired by another lotter that said in one of my discussions that some of there relatives are of age and that are still in debt, I think this is just sad, sad that they are old and still owe people or institutions money and even sadder is that they incurred this debt growing old and will put them off of there homes or there properties. For me i wish there will be some way that they can be helped by the government maybe provided with jobs. For me I'll try my best never to have anymore debts when i finish off this debts this year.

We live in a very expensive city, and I know people who live paycheque to paycheque. They'll take decades to pay off their debt. it's kind of a fact of life around here for some. We paid ours off but it did take about 4 years of hard work.

well better to have a plan in paying off debt and future savings and also making sure that you are healthy and strong always, me as of now i live that way but at least i have other jobs that can help me pay off my big debts and also provide me safe harbor for my future, a little savings here and there.

I don't know anyone exactly but a relative of mine deals with someone who is in their 70's and still has a mortgage and drives an expensive suv with a payment. I think that's nuts, at that age I could see possibly having a credit card BUT a mortgage? Most people pay those off in their 50's if not sooner depending on your finances and priorties of course.

Yep, that is true i mean credit card is good if you keep it to a minimum of two one for regular stuff and an emergency one, i prefer debit card, but i don't have one either anyway i hope that that person realizes the fact that having a debt or bad enough incurring debts at that age is bad for them unless they still have a good paying job or very supportive very rich family. Thanks for the comment.

I don't have much debt right now but next year I would need to take out 30,000 dollars in debt in order to go to graduate school. That thought alone is scaring me and keeping me awake at night. I'm glad that you would be able to pay off your debt this year and I hope I would be able to do the same once I finish with school.

Whoa that's a lot of money to earn well i think that with the right motivation and the right push you will be able to earn the money you need to pay off that future debt and i think that in your country there are a lot of institutions that help you with getting a job and getting help in debts. But i hope you do get to pay off all your debts in time.

I don't know what "age" you mean other than perhaps retirement age or elderly? I don't personally know anyone. But a relative of mine speaks of someone who is in her seventies and is still in debt for a vehicle and for a mortgage ect. I would hope that by the time I am that old I would not owe on a mortgage for sure!

Hey there snuggles, Well for me by the end of this year i compute that all my debts will be paid, and me too i know i will work hard to avoid incurring debts and to pay off debts so that i don.t have to worry about anything in my retiring years except for catching carp in the river.

I must extend my warmest congratulatory greetings to you for being near in your debt payments. I'm happy for you and the rest of the people wherever they may be, who are working hard to eliminate debt. I am just in the process of working hard to cut that debt until it will be gone - for good. It has crippled many and I don't want to reach that time when I am a slave to debt. It is not good to reach our old and golden years, still having debts to pay. Even our government are examples of being in bad shape - debt slaves. Debt is not a good way to live our life. good day.
