MSNBC: The Buzz in Kabul on the NATO summit
“The international community should not leave Afghanistan alone,” Khalil Khan, a 29-year-old pharmacist, said. “The Chicago conference is a hopeful gathering and the international community and Afghans should really think about a good future for all of us. They should hand their money and responsibility to good people who can be trusted, not warlords.”
Raz Mohammad, 27, who works with a trucking company, was the only one we spoke to who understood what the Chicago meetings on Afghanistan would be about -- the funding of Afghan security forces.
So, are the protesters protesting our presence in Afghanistan? Are they protesting money being spent or how it's being spent? Do they even know what this Afghani truck driver knows? I'd love to hear the answer from one of the protesters, wouldn't you?

I know that there are basically three different Ideas going around right now within the Occupy Movement on this whole issue.
The first one being is that the United States should withdraw from NATO as it is no longer needed being that it is an alliance that was created when the USSR and the Warsaw pack was around.
The Second reason they are protesting this summit is because NATO is involved in Policing the world and this is causing the killings of innocent civilians as well as violating other countries rights.
The Third one is because NATO is the tool of the 1% to have nations go to war for profits and NATO is heavily supported by the Military Arms Manufacturing Industry. This group of people want to end NATO because it is a tool for the 1% to use.

Here is a list that they came up with for why they are protesting.

That would depend on the people. Occupy gets a lot of different groups as is apparent by the Black Bloc being allowed to be at most of these marches to which they use violence these being Anarchist of the Black and Red type which is Anarch Socialsim kind of a weird mix if you ask me but they believe that the people need to rise up and fight the system by using the tools and tactics against the system at least that is the thoughts of some of them.

I don't think they're going to meet their objectives by violence, I mean, if you're against war and all, violence should be abhorrent to you, right?

NATO is involved in operations in a number of countries. i think the summit is part evaluation of the operations and strategic assessment of the security of europe in the midst of the security situation in the world. while european economy is in peril, there is a need to reevaluate the cost of military operations in other countries.
