Weary of Eating Certain Foods?

This is fairly new to me. After getting sick after eating beans and rice because of my gallbladder, I'm sort of weary to eat them again, even though the doctor says I can. I used to love them, but after how much pain they put me in I'm scared to eat them again. My friend's mom made them today, thinking they'd cheer me up, and I felt horrible telling her that I couldn't bring myself to eat them. I don't know how to solve this problem. Myloters, have you experienced something like this? Can you eat that food now or did it cause you to forever be averted from it?

I'm not really weary of eating any food. I have gotten sick before, but I never had the feeling like "this food made me sick, I don't want to eat it again". I don't really know what makes me sick, so I just keep eating whatever I like. ^^

That makes me slightly envious of you. lol I wish my mind hadn't made the connection with one of my favorite dishes and becoming ill.

You will be able to eat beans and rice again. What is going to be a bit of a problem since your gall bladder is gone is "oily or greasy foods". I wasn't able to eat anything with a large amount of grease in it. I am slowly getting over it and am now able to eat fries, butter, and donuts. It probably wasn't the beans and rice themselves but another ingredient in them. Especially if it was any kind of oil. I have this thing about watermelon. I still can't eat it except in tiny amounts. I had gotten sick and vomited up watermelon and I guarantee it wasn't as good coming up as it was going down. I cringe when someone mentions watermelon!

I've cut back on the greasy and fatty foods a lot recent. I've taken up eating low sodium deli sandwiches - which I've been craving. Loaded with tons of veggies. I asked my doctor about this and he said that I may be low on certain things in them, and that's why my body craves them. I could agree about the watermelon thing. Nothing tastes as good coming up as it does going down. *cringes* I've had to many experiences with that statement in the last few weeks.

Hi syramoon, I know how you feel, my husband got sick before after eating mango and food with coconut. He felt severe abdominal pain and I rushed him in the ER because of that pain and we discovered he has gallbladder stone which already blocking the his bile duct according to the Dr. and ultrasound. But before that he kept blaming the food that he ate although we both know that there is no connection. Now, he is fine. He went to a surgery to remove the gallbladder but still up to now he doesn't want to eat mango and any food with coconut anymore. Like you he is afraid to get sick again. Now, I think it is better for you not to eat those food for now if your not comfortable to take it or if your still thinking that you might get sick again, also try to avoid fatty foods. God bless.

That's exactly what happened to me, and recently I underwent two procedures to get the problem fixed. I'm glad I'm not the only one who has had this experience.
