Mom caves? New idea to me.

I just recently heard the term Mom caves. It's curioius because I always knew and accepted man caves, i.e. places in the home men like to call their own, but I never thought about women having the same. My hubby always had his den and it never dawned on me to have my own space. Seems they are becoming popular as a place for women to retreat and be surrounded by all their favorite things where they could go and unwind after a stressful day. I wonder how many have heard of this and if anyone has a Mom cave, tell me about it please. Otherwise, what would you like to see in your Mom cave, or shall we just call it your retreat??

ElicBxn ..I guess it's geared more to married couples who share a room.

I miss my private spot. we had a computer room and and I would also set up my craft table and that room was off limits. That was my private room and I kept it the way I wanted to keep it. I even kept the cats of the room which was hard because my cat Smyles loves to follow me around the house. I called the computer room The Queen's Place.

I have my own room but never heard of a Mpm cave. I am now a grandmother, but when my boys were small, I could not go into a mom cave or a place by myself because I would be afraid that once I did, the boys would go wild.

I always make my room my mom cave. It is always decorated with the things I love, like mini ginger jars and other collections that no one else in my family is interested in. I have all my old tapes, records, cds stored there too. I display my books and pictures that make me feel comfortable. I love soft lighting and beautiful, comfortable things. I love my room/mom cave.

Even though I live alone in the house and I could call it all mine, I do have a special place for me. It´s not my bedroom (where many of my visitors come to see movies with me) or the living and dining rooms (very much the place to recieve everyone)but a room with the computer. I call it "my pigsty" because all my papers, memos, old phone books, books I´m reading and you name it are all there. I should really say here, as I´m here now, mylotting.

It is wonderful. I do think though, from time to time, that I´d be very happy having Bewitched´s nose to place some things where they belong and throw others that belong to the waste paper basket

I think all people have there own favorite place in the house. Most mom's its like the kitchen or bathroom. For me it's the bathroom when I'm taking a bath. That is my space to just relax and get away from it all. My husband doesn't have a man cave since we live in an apartment but as long as he has a few hours in front of the tv to play video games I would say that is close enough for him to have a man cave.

ShyBear88 ..Well "here and there, now and again" is better than nothing. I remember when my children were little I felt I had NO privacy or alone time...

Some women have a craft room or something like that, knitting, or sewing room. The bathroom is the closet thing I have to one like the living room is my husband but it is shared area so he only gets to himself here and there.

I have never heard of it before, but it would be nice to have, and have it cozy and organized. I think my sewing and craft area is going to be that. I think the family thinks that the kitchen is the only cave for Mom.

GardenGerty..Yes kitchens are usually Mom domain. I never heard of Mom caves until recently..in fact I watched a game reality TV show that featured designing Mom caves. Maybe they started it???

hi there stary 1, Well my mom does have her special area in the house where she can make her sewing done and some of her crafts, i think that is what you meant by mom caves so that is it an area that she has that no one is allowed to touch or disarray.
