A Million Voices of Poetry

United States

Ever since I became serious about my writing, I've always had the dream of uniting 1 million poets to use our poetry to make a difference in the world. I've been toying with this project on and off for a year, but tonight I really feel like I've found the passion to really start moving forward with this project. My question to all of you is, do you think this would be a worthwhile venture? I've never really tried to organize a big project before, so I welcome any advice people might have to offer. What kinds of topics would inspire you to write poetry?

Hi Philly, What change do you want to make with 1 million poets? Well, I just wonder... I always write poetry about love, relationships, self-help, friendships, etc..

There are many changes I can think of, but one of the biggest would be to put real poets back into the main stream of things. Look at all the song lyrics you hear on the pop stations. A five year old could have written them.

That would be difficult. People who play guitars think they can also write words to their tunes, which is rarely the case. I suspect that real poets will never fit into the mainstream of life, whether this is literary, musical or entertainment.
