Hello Lotters, I just heard from the television regarding this new kind of Phobia that scientist had been studying for like days in UK. probably because of our age regarding the people's too much dependence on the mobile phones. It's a relative fear of not something good happening on their mobile phones. though i think of it as a necessity or a Communication Device. but others got addicted putting and using a lot of different stuff on their mobile phones. I used to be addicted to text or background image on my phone. but as time goes by, i've become relatively lazy in even loading my phone with prepaid cards. it's rare that i reply now a days. but that's great because am not addicted to my mobile phone. not a referral link. http://www.allaboutcounseling.com/library/nomophobia/ Is any one have Nomophobia here?

HI letran! No, I am not like that. I don't even like phone even if I got one of it.(^^)Afraid of something might happen to my phone? That is why I dislike to change my cellphone to the latest and expensive type since it will only make me depend on it and afraid to lose it. I am fine with the regular cellphone and just use it to text or call people which is not a favorite activity for me to do.(^^)

Hello CtHanum, Yeah and the reason there is a new phone is that companies can benefit to the addiction of the customers with regards to the new gadget. unfortunately, criminals like that and then they really wanted to take the new ones. that's why people like me prefer to bring the old ones because we know that it's really something criminals won't get interested to.

Plus I don't like cellphones with so many features because usually we don't use everything they had provided to us and using it frequently will make the cellphone's battery lifespan going down. Lately my sister bought a new smartphone and after using it for a few weeks from needing her to charge once daily now she need to charge it twice everyday. So the old type of cellphone is better as it just focus on the main function of telephone..(^^)

I can remember when only doctors and emergency responders were allowed to have cell phones and they were big as bricks! It's ironic that we've turned a convenience and emergency assistance device into something that rules our lives. I've avoided it--I have a prepaid that I use rarely and it doesn't do anything but make and receive calls. I don't want to become nomophobic or depend on an artificial device. I don't understand those people who have to constantly be in contact with everyone. I feel sorry for them. But we will always abuse the intended purpose of things, I think, and suffer the consequences.

Hello dragon54u, i think its nice to have convinience on the phone. but it's really sad when you over do it. soem people use it for the bad reasons and i can't afford to do that compare to them. some think they can just abuse and abuse.

Thankfully not! I had a cell phone for only two years and gave it up. My first and only cell phone I got was when I was already 50 years old. I kept it for only two years only because of the contract. I started to get pain at the side of my head right above the ear when using the cell phone. I began to get scared of what the phone could be doing to me so I only used it when necessary and stayed on for very short period of time. Once I gave up the phone the pain went away completely. I do believe they cause brain tumors and some form of cancel after continous use for long periods of time. I remember seeing a man on TV who had used a cell phone for twenty years develope a brain tumor on the side of the head in which he always used his cell phone. He lived to tell about it and believes the cell phone is what caused it.

Hello lelin1123, there's no contract in my case, i just go to a store and buy a mobile phone. other than that, buy a sim card. it was good because i don't have to focus much on calling but texting. having a contract like that would really just pushed me to call some one every day, and i think it's more logical if you have a business or something.

I am not. I used to be updated with the current models of phones and always plan to have that. But when I had my family and my son, that basically changed. Instead of gadgets like cellphone, my interest now is more on household things and needs. Like you, I used to be so addicted about the theme and ring tones you can download and install to your cellphone. But I am over with it now because I give up the more updated cellphone that I have and choose the lower version but more durable.

Hello shylade, same here i also do not have this kind of phobia when it comes to mobile phones. the good thing about changing gadgets from my brother is that they give me the old ones. i am not interested in the updates, the only thing that concerns me was the mobile phone working and then having able to communicate through text and calls

More and more phobias will come out with modern technology. What do they call that kind of phobia which involves one's fear of not coming online?

I was so dependent on my cellphone when I was still in college. I always make sure I replenish it with minutes everytime it runs out. And even if it is not the newest one out, I was afraid to leave it at home nor afraid if I misplace it. But now, everything changed. Glad that I have learned to let go of it. I don't have minutes all the time but I do when it's necessary but, I can't leave it at home since I have a business to run and it has to do with my mobile phones. But at least I know I can handle myself with mobile phones unlike before. Maybe it's a matter of being responsible and growing old

It's hard to have this kind of phobia. That's why you shouldn't be dependent too much on mobile phones and gadgets. Like having very good english, because using mobile phones are prone to making you misspell words. If you make this a habit then maybe you lose knowledge in spelling words.
