I knew there was a wild turkey in our front field, but I has to go across this field to check on some cows and the grass was very tall, up to my chest. So I was walking carefully just to make sure I didn't come across a fawn, Mother deers hide them in the deep grass, or a bird nest. I was just about on the farm road when all of a sudden a turkey and two doves flew up right under my feet, I didn't see them at all. zI sat down in the grass and the turkey yelled at me for what seemed like a long time. I still never saw her nest, but was very glad to get out of that field. Up close a turkey is a big bird for this little old lady to run into. Hope your day holds no wild turkey, unless it's in a bottle. ( wild turkey is the name of
a type of boose)

my hubby's sister lives on a farm and we were out there for a Thanksgiving a couple of years ago (Canadian Thanksgiving is in October) and there were wild turkeys on the lawn and my sister in law says 'run away turkeys, don't you know what day this is?'

I have never encountered a wild turkey. As a kid out hunting I did encounter dove and quail which could really startle(especially the quail) you when they flew up from under foot. But what startled me more was the several times that I have run across snakes that I almost stepped on and which fortunately took off because they were very fast and I never could have outrun them. This happened a couple of times when I was a kid and a couple times as an adult.

I never encounter wild animals here in my town since this is a small city. But I'm a adventurous girl I like going on the fields and bushes, my mother lives in the province with small farm I experienced running wild boar going on my way, the farmers quickly got a net to catch the boar they love to cooked it roasted.

Lucky you, a wild boar is a very dangerous animal, they will attack you and can do serious harm. In the USA we have many places where these animals have just taken over, not only can you hunt them but you can get a reward. Early this year they got one that was 700 pounds. I sure wouldn't want that one to chase me.

Goodness I bet you were very surprised. I am glad that the turkey did not charge you. I would be more afraid of snakes than birds or deer. Do you ever have that problem as well?

Oh gosh you were attacked by deer? That is a very scary thought. Geese are very territorial as well and the noise they make will scare someone who is not expecting it. It is a good thing about the snakes. Here we have copperheads that we have to be on the look out for.

That's a cool story, savypat! I've run across them now and then in some parts of Sacramento county and in the town of Rancho Cordova. There they stop traffic when they decide to walk across the road. I am not sure if they are just that dumb, or if they know no one will hit them, especially when they have a string of babies with them.

That turkey in a bottle is not much nicer than that female protecting her nest. My b/f has a longtime friend visit him this past weekend and there was some gobbling going on downstairs that I was really glad I wasn't involved in.
