Lately, I have this habit of putting on my earphone to listen to music at my cellphone while doing household chores here at home, while I am on my leave from work . 
Doing so, makes me not feel tired at all, doing the household chores. Though, from time to time I would have one earphone down so I can hear my mother-in-law to what he may be saying.
Though sometimes, it feels nice that I have all the earphones on, so my mother-in-law won’t bother me with his unending and over & over again stories .

Good habit!The music can take your mind off what you are doing and relieve the dull work such as household chores,otherwise keep you in a cheerful state of mind during your sick leave.Perhaps Your mother-in-law may wonder at times "how come I call her several times,she takes no notice of me?"

Yes, old people tends to do that. My MIL though is only 73. She seems to just forget, it becomes annoying to be telling the same story over and over again. 
Now, when she sees me with my MP and earphone, she doesn't anymore.

No she knows that i can't hear her when my earphones are in my ears. But i do take off the other earphone if i see my mother-in-law seemingly saying something.
Though, when it's her repeated stories, i certainly put back my earphones and conti- nue working.

Old people tend to chatter interminably.My 90 year old mother tells us what happered many years ago again and again,we have to listen to her so as not to have her spirits dampened.

I do like you at home when doing house work and working in the office too. It makes me feel happy and have more motivation to work harder.

I listen to music when working around the house, too and it really helps get things done. I think it's because we pay more attention to the music rather than the work. I turn the stereo on (I have speakers in three rooms) and clean house while hardly thinking of it at all.
No mother in law here, though!

Indeed music while working makes our works lighter. How the time flies so fast, when we are listening to music amidst our works.
My mother-in-law is kind and generous. I just don't like it when she keeps on telling repeated over and over again stories.

i do that at home sometimes..but then there are times when i need to make rush reports that i wont bother using earphones or even listening to music lol but most of the time i do listen to music.

I also feel the same jazel. When i am at my laptop, i find it bothersome to have an earphone or even music. I feel distracted by it.

That's true my friend.
If we are to do something that will require us to think and be focused, then we shouldn't be listening to music because they can distract.
But in doing household chores, we can , because they are mechanical and listening to music can lighten the chores.

I agree that listening to music while working can lighten up the ambience and make me feel more relaxed. However, If I'm doing stuff that requires concentration, like a business article or case study, I'd rather not listen to any music.

I do that at the office! When I don't want other people to bother me, I put on my headphones. There were times I didn't know that the boss was raging mad outside because I had my heaphone on. I just noticed when I got out of my cubicle that some people were on the verge of crying. It does help make the work lighter when you're listening to music. @gloryacam (5540)

Well, doing house work while listening to music has to be easier. I say that because music gives you the motivation to do what you're doing. And also, time does go by when you're doing something you like to do. And since you're listening to music, the time is passing by quickly.

You know music is such a soothing thing. I'm here mylotting whilst looking at farmer's goods online and listening to music while also drinking tea! Such a lot of things but I am calm because I've combined it with music and two lovely cups of tea!
Music whilst doing chores makes them go by that much faster I've found!

But when i am mylotting, i don't listen to music. It kinda distracts me from giving my best shot in responding.
Though, i must agree music is soothing and relaxing thus making our work feel lighter doing them.

Actually, i only use my earphone to listen to music during that, and after my morning prayer to hear worship songs.
Also sometimes, when i cannot sleep at night , i listen to music through my earphone so as not to waken my sleeping husband.

YEs sometime wearing earphone and working is a sign to other saying DO NOT Disturb busy here and such , but some people take it as rude , for example inviting people out for drinking or supper but wearing headphone is just plain rude and such.However , it is working it ok. When i was working as programmer it is normal for the programmer to wear headphones , if the manager or other people want to talk they will communicate thorough skype or msn online, or just tab on the table and they will remove the headset.

Well, when we are with other people in a gathering or party, it would indeed be rude to be wearing earphone. You are there to attend the party, so meaning you are there to socialize so why would you put on your earphone? 
In our office, earphones are prohibited. Everybody has to be at the beck and call of their bosses and co-employees. At least, you are not prohibited to talk and joke with one another while working. That way, everybody is happy and close to each other.

They said the best way to block people out is to listen to your earphones. 
I really don't do that often but i love listening to music while doing something. It does excite me and true doesn't make me feel tired.
I have this application on my ipad that i have to listen to to feel relaxed. An earphone is a requirement since you have to listen only to the running water, the birds chirping to make you feel relax.

Yes, and i discovered that just last week on how to block my mother-in-law from telling me her never ending repeated stories, Toni.
Oh yes, the sound of the running water is also relaxing. I have one among my ringtones.
As to the sound of the chirping birds, i actually always wake up in the morning to the chirping of the birds perched on the trees, on the vacant lot by our window. Makes me feel so thankful to God for them, Toni.

Yes, music seems to ease down our troubles. Though, it also depends on the music that we are listening to.
I like listening to danceable tunes whenever i am doing household chores. Makes me gyrate and shake while cooking and washing the dishes.

I use to play my stereo really loud when I was doing my
weekly cleaning on saturdays...I really could get a lot of
work done while listening to my music...I don't listen to
music as much anymore.....But it does have a tendency of making
youn feel really contentment, delightful,and all those good
feelings.....

Now i know what i will do if my mother-in-law would seem to be telling me her never ending repeated stories.
I do always do that now while i am doing household chores. And also in the morning after i have prayed and meditated. It is so touching to listen to Don Moen's worship songs , that my tears would roll down while i am listening to them with closed eyes.
It's a good thing my husband is still asleep beside me.
