I had one once about 20 years ago now. I had bought a second hand washing machine, and the wiring was obviously faulty. When I went to switch it on, it kind of went "BANG", and threw me across the room! Luckily I was unhurt, just very shaky for some minutes. I think I had a lucky escape!

i get shocked now and agin as am training to be an electrician. the other day i was working with a guy on these light fitting that plugged into the circuit. on one of the plugs he wired the earth wire into the live terminal and visa-versa by mistake. as we were holding the metal fitting we got a shock, which is more like a buzzing sensation on your wrists. with light's its not too bad but mains is not so forgiving so im always extra careful with mains.

I was so stupid to plug in an appliance while my hands are wet, luckily my reflexes are so good but it sure hurt a lot.

I had a pretty good jolt 2 years ago - it was storming out and I was making my husband's lunch - I opened the fridge and it felt like a huge punch against my entire body - it threw me down a few feet from where I was standing. my kids came running in from the living room saying whoa did you see that? and my husband came running in from down the hall saying COOL! apparently the lightening went through the living room window and dining room window and converged the kids and dh saw a bluish ball of light about the same time I was thrown. the fridge stopped working.

Yes, the first time I was a very little child and my older brother decided to play a trick on me. He held the wire and nothing happened and told me to hold the wire. I said NO! So he did it again and nothing happened to him and he said I was just a baby and scaredy cat. So I took the wire and got a shock. It didn't hurt him because he is somewhat immune to shock, a reason why he went into electrical work when he grew up. When I got over it and started trusting him a bit, he taught me how to solder and other useful electronics stuff and for a while I worked in the electronics trade and at work I shocked myself, but mostly I was grounded and the shock went somewhere else. Once at work I stuck a screwdriver into a live circuit and a yard long blue flame shot up toward the ceiling. I screamed really loudly and all the guys called me a woosie for that, but nobody got hurt. For some reason I tend to stick screwdrivers where I shouldn't. It is something about capacitors retaining a charge long after the device is unplugged, lol. So, yes, I've shocked myself quite a few times. The only other time I screeched when I got a shock was once when I was about to give a speech and the microphone was defective. I picked it up and got a really bad shock. Not a great way to entertain the audience. Two or three hundred people were looking at me like what is with this dizzy chick?

I got shocked a few times by my friends doorbell. I still press it because it's fun. It's a minor shock, but you can feel the burn on your finger afterwards.
