Anyone do any woodworking

I don't do woodwork but I like to do wood burning. This year am putting all my gifts in wooden boxes with the designs I've done on them and staining them. My husband does woodworking and he allows me to help sometimes...lol

I think that it is a great hobby to do. My father in law does a lot of woodworking over the years.

My boyfreind is into woodworking. As a matter of fact he is making something right now.He is making a bed for my grandson that will look like a John Deere tractor. He is making things for people on our christmas list too. I think the best thing he has made so far is a memprial plaque for my dog that just died a little over a month ago. I'll have to take some pictures of some of the things he has made and post them here. Thats if I remember.lol.

I like to do woodworking too! I've made a lot of different stuff over the years. I used to build a lot of victorian twig furniture, mostly tables embellished with grapevine. I've also made other types of tables the traditional way. I have my own shop with table saws, mitre boxes and all. Some of the stuff I've been doing lately is repairing woodwork, trim and etc on the century home I live in. I've redone the framing on the windows (outside), re-built new door jambs, and quite a few other things. I've always enjoyed working with wood and building things, it's fun and relaxing as a hobby. The hardest thing I ever built was a roll-top desk, whew...that was definitely a challenge, but worth it. I think when we women put our minds to it we can do anything that we want to, and do a great job of it too. If you ever get time, you ought to take a picture of your storage bench and the book shelf and share with us...you GO girl!!

I do some woodworking but my husband loved it. He made most all of his Christmas Gifts himself. Do you get your patterns online or elsewhere?

Yes I do wood working and I just finished a few projects one that I really like is a table from wood a guys was going to throw out. Across from my house there is a building and the people who bought the property decided they did not want all the wood that was inside it because it was rough never been planed down so they had all this wood in a pile and were getting ready to burn it so I asked if I could go through the pile and pick the good wood out of they said ok.
So after I got about half way to the botom of the pile I found cherry wood poplar,red cedar,black walnut peacan,oak,western red cedar,heart pine and allot more I stacked wood 3 foot tall on a 20 foot long trailer and drove to the house. there is at least $3000 worth of wood FREE!
Well I took the heartpine and planed it down and it was awesome I built this table from it. See picture I still ahve not put a finish on it because I wanted to make sure it was dryed and use to the climate in the house.

I've always enjoyed woodworking myself and have done a few prjects myself. Recently my lates project was small project to dress up an old light fixture over head in my kitchen. I'll post pictures of mine later today. Maybe you could do the same, we could get a woodworking subject rolling and escape from a little of the political and domestic issues.
