Does anyone else here use Flylady to help them tackle their housework? I find as a general idea it works really well, but I havent done very well at getting regular routines going. However, when I'm being good my place looks much tidier than ever before, I'd like to have time ti get really into it and get the house properly sorted out. What do you think of it?

I'm working at it. I have a few of the routines going, but I'm not too consistant with some of it. If nothing else, I feel guilty when I see the emails and don't open it to do what they say. :) Her program is great. I just need one for procrastination.

Well, you could always use mylot to help with the procrastination., I've done this a few times. What you do is start a discussion thread with the aim of posting what you need to do next, and promising not to return to the discussion until you have done it, then you go do that small task, and come and post again. It turns into a bit of a competition to see who can do the most of their list and it really helps focus the mind.

I never manage to get to the regular routines part. I occasionally do the missions, and I try to clean up, but it never seems like I actually get to the regular zone cleaning. I have no idea how people clean an entire house. None. My mom did and does, but she doesn't work outside the home as well.

I mix and match it to what I need,it is tough. I clean other people's houses for a living and what takes two hours in there houses to clean takes me all day at my own house!!!! Shame as I do really like cleaning, my hubby is good at cleaning as well so he does quite a bit round our house

The joys of working and having children! nancy.... agree with you, take it with a pinch of salt etc and take what you need from it.. the ideas are very good, and thats what we all need sometimes, the ideas

I joined flylady but the emails were just too many for me. I could not use her schedule to get things done. I finally just quit. Although alot of pleople just love her style of homemaking. It was not the right one for me. One thing I did learn and still do is put my shoes on as soon as I get up. this did help.

Putting on your shoes is supposted to be so important but I just can't do it! I wear them for about 5 minutes and kick them off without thinking about it. I do daycare so I tend to creep around silently at naptime and that is much easier in bare feet.

I think the idea there is to encourage you to do things like take the bion or the compost out rather than waiting until you next have shoes on isnt it. I don't wear shoes at home much either on a day to day basis

I don't use the emails, but I found the basic steps and the 'Kelly's Missions' very helpful to focus what I was doing

I use the ideas and use them to the way that I think best to suit me, but I'm like you I go through phases of where I'm very good and do lots of housework and am a very good girl and other times I'm not so good. I do have a very good husband who is good at housework... in fact he can do anything apart from the ironing.... plus I do clean other people's houses for a living
